This week in the PGA tour, it’s the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. This is a historic tournament that was first established in 1937 as the National Pro-Am Golf Championship.

Jimmy Walker was the winner of this last year, as he shot a 276 barely beating out Dustin Johnson and Jim Renner. The most notable golfer on this course is Phil Mickelson, who will unfortunately not be playing. Mickelson has won at this course 4 times – although that is not the record.

Mark O’Meara is the record holder, as he has won it 5 times including the most noteworthy achievement where he won back to back in 89 and 90. He then also won it in 1992 skipping a year with Paul Azinger winning it in between. O’Meara did not play it in 1991 however.

It’s a golf course where often, consistency wins out. We’ve seen quite a few repeat winners over the last couple of decades including Davis Love III and Dustin Johnson. We’ve also seen the same golfers multiple times end up around the top, so we’ll be taking that into consideration as we do our tips today.

  6. Brandt Snedeker: 22/1
  7. Hunter Mahan: 25/1
  8. Ryan Palmer: 25/1
  9. Nick Watney: 30/1
  10. Graham Delaet: 33/1

We are very excited for this tournament – although despite the large amateur field which always adds to the excitement, we expect a pro to take it down. Let’s get to the tips:

AT&T Pebble Beach Winner #1: Jimmy Walker

Like we said – it’s a course that breeds consistency. Jimmy Walker won last year, and we’d be stupid not to bet on him again this year. Unfortunately 15/2 is not a huge price, so we will bet betting a half unit on him straight up to win.

It was Walkers first win last year but he is no stranger to the course, and he came tied for 3rd the year prior. He was also tied for 9th, and is expected to be around the top of the leaderboard near the end so is worth the bet.

Bet: Jimmy Walker to win – 15/2 at .

AT&T Pebble Beach Winner #2: Dustin Johnson

Two time winner Dustin Johnson is almost ALWAYS near the top of the leaderboard it seems.

He won it in 2009 and 2010. He must have felt the pressure the next year with off days all through the course, but in 2012 he was tied for 5th in a nice bounce back. 2 years ago he didn’t make the cut, while last year he pushed for 2nd.

Johnson has the ability to win this course or come in the top 5, and the 16/1 price is very fair.

Bet: Dustin Johnson E/W – 16/1 at .

Winner #3: Brandt Snedeker

Snedeker is going into the links with some beautiful form at the moment. We’ve really been liking what he has been up to, and think this tournament is coming at the right time for him.

He had a horrible year here last year, but he did of course win the year before and with the pressure off him with him way down at 22/1 he is easily worth the bet.

Bet: Snedeker E/W at .

AT&T PEBBLE BEACH RESULTS & ANALYSIS:

An excellent tournament for us. Not only did we get Dustin Johnson correct in placing(he came 4th), but we managed to get Brandt Snedeker correct as the winner for the big cash. Best part was Snedeker led from day 1 and played some just phenomenal golf throughout.

A great time. Also nice to see Chesson Hadley in the top 10 – always liked him.
