The Mariners continued their hot streak last night as they completed their sweep of the Detroit Tigers. They are currently still out of the Wild Card race, but the next three upcoming series are against the Angels, Athletics and Brewers who are all very beatable. The Wild Card is in sight and the AL West is not too far behind it. This could get interesting.

We also saw the Cubs grab another win as they seem to have completely rebounded from their July struggles and are now the best team in baseball since the All-Star Break. This team is very good and are clearly just biding their time until the playoffs start. I am really excited to see what they will be able to do in the postseason as I’m not sure there is a team in the National League that will be able to stop them.

Tonight we see a full slate of NFL preseason games. I always like to avoid these early games as you just don’t know who is going to play, how much the coaches want to win or the quality of some of the second and third string players. We will be monitoring the games for trends though and hopefully we can gleam some sort of information that will help us down the road. We do, however, have CFL action to cover.

There are also a few MLB games we like on tonight’s slate as well including the aforementioned Cubs and a big Red Sox-Yankees game. Let’s not waste any time and get right into tonight’s betting tips.

CFL Betting Tips:

I’m really expecting a big game from Reilly tonight as the Eskimos visit the Alouettes. Edmonton has had a rough run as of late and needs a big game tonight to get back on track. I believe that they will, Reilly will have a big game and the Eskimos -7 will cover the spread in this one.

MLB Betting Tips:

The Cubs are really getting it done right now and the Cardinals are… not. St. Louis has been a huge disappointment this season and they have really struggled as of late. It would be weird not to have them in the postseason since they are always in the postseason, but I don’t think anyone will be complaining when they are not. I like the Cubs -156 to get it done tonight. Jon Lester has been excellent at home with just a 1.99 ERA. He goes against Carlos Martinez who is probably the Cards best starter, but as of late has struggled with a 6.35 ERA over his past three starts, allowing ten earned runs in his past two.

We’re all over the Red Sox -130 tonight as well. The Yankees are a shell of their former shelves and have just a .686 OPS against lefty starters. Eduardo Rodriguez is not the best lefty starter, but he has been solid over his past three starts with a 3.94 ERA. He goes against Michael Pineda who has struggled at times this season and matches up against the best offense in all of baseball. No thanks.

The Indians faces the Angels tonight and I’m expecting Cleveland to have a big offensive night. Jhoulys Chacin goes for LA and he is not a great pitcher. A 6.35 ERA on road starts this year and a 11.11 ERA over his past three, he should be in for a rough night against the Indians. He goes against Corey Kluber who has been on point of late, but I do think they’ll do enough to help send this one over 8 runs.
