We had a solid night betting on MLB last night and look to continue our success here today.

Today will see some of the trade deadline acquisitions see their debuts with their new cities. The big one is Zack Greinke getting the start for the Astros at home against the Rockies. He should be pretty familiar with this team as he’s shared a division with them for the last several years and I’m expecting success here. Of course, Vegas is too as the Astros are a -207 favorite.

The other starter making his debut with a new team tonight is Mike Leake who is making his Diamondbacks debut. We have more on that one below.

Let’s get to the tips.

MLB Betting Tips:

Kansas City Royals at Boston Red Sox: The Red Sox have basically tanked their slim playoff odds with a 2-8 record over their past ten games. They are in desperate need of a win here and draw a great match-up as the Royals are 1-9 over their past ten.

I like this tip a lot because of Jakob Junis. The road has not been kind to him this season as he has a 4.24 ERA/5.92 FIP in his road starts and Boston is a very tough place to play. Despite the bad record of late, the Sox are hitting the ball really hard of late and are one of the top teams against right handed pitchers.

The Sox send Andrew Cashner to the mound who has been okay with the Red Sox. He has a 4.44 ERA/4.52 FIP on the season, but this is a nice match-up for him. The Royals offense is ice cold over the past two weeks with just a 57 wRC+.

Boston needs this and I am expecting a big explosion on the offense here. Lay the runs.

Bet Red Sox -1.5 (-110)

Philadelphia Phillies at Arizona Diamondbacks: This is a great spot for an over bet.

The Diamondbacks picked up Mike Leake at the deadline and this will be his first start in Arizona. For the season, Leake has a 5.53 ERA/6.45 FIP away from Safeco Field. Arizona is pretty far from Safeco Field. It’s going to be humid and the Phillies hit the ball well last night.

Jake Arrieta goes for the Phillies and he’s a guy I just don’t trust. His strikeouts continue to drop and he has a 4.52 ERA/4.97 FIP on the road this season.

I think both of these pitchers have a short night and the over is hit.

WNBA Betting Tips:

Minnesota Lynx at Atlanta Dream: The Atlanta Dream have been one of the worst teams in the league this season, but Minnesota is in a bad place right now. They are 1-5 over their last six games and the road has been really rough on them. Minnesota is averaging 69.8 points per game over their last five road games, a terrible mark for sure. While I have my doubts about Atlanta, this is one of the best opportunities you’ll have to grab them all season. Don’t let it slip.
