We tipped Rory McIlroy a couple of days ago for a top 5 finish in the US open – hopefully he keeps it up as he’s looking good for that. Only evens odds but money is money, right?

Yesterday we had the Connecticut Sun +3.5 in the WNBA against the New York Liberty. Unfortunately, they lost by 5 points there in a close one, as they had a massive 3rd quarter but the Liberty beat them 25-18 in the 4th to cover the point spread.

We won with the Eskimos/Alouettes Bet in the CFL though, and we also had a nice win with Blackburn vs Cardiff as a draw which was great.

I’m going to be doing a fun betting challenge today with the soccer season in the UK kicking off – well, the Scottish leagues and the Championship anyway. I’ll post the details at the end of the tips. Let’s get to the Sports Betting Tips for August 9th, 2014 which will all be UK football related:

SPL Betting Tips: Motherwell vs St Mirren

Motherwell are short odds here of 17/20 but we feel it is worth a punt.

Motherwell have played in Europe already, so they have some competitive matches under thelr belt. They went out, but they showed they can score goals.

They are struggling a bit with injuries in defense, but St Mirren are missing Stephen Thompson which is a big loss. Well have enough in reserve that they should be able to handle St. Mirren well.

Plus with the injuries, they’ll approach this one conservatively. We expect them to keep this one tight and play with caution.

Bet: In a low scoring contest, Motherwell to get the win. 17/20 odds at https://www.Bovada.lv.

Scottish Championship Betting Tips: Hibs vs Livingston

One of the three promotion contenders are Hibs, and we like them to get their season off to a winning start.

Livingston are a solid team but we still like Hibernian to do the business against Livi. We think they’ll attack from the off, dominate the game from the beginning and based on that, the best bet is to go with Hibernian-Hibernian which means they’ll be leading at half time, and then at full time as well.

For them to win it’s 8/13 odds, but we like the price on Hibs-Hibs just that bit more.

Bet: Hibernian-Hibernian as a half-time/full-time bet, available at https://www.Bovada.lv.

English Championship Betting Tips: Middlesbrough vs Birmingham

Boro aren’t getting a lot of credit this season, and we’re getting a good price of them at 4/5 odds that we have to take.

That’s the best thing about the start of the season – weak odds like that, where the bookies haven’t figured out just how good a team is going to be yet. With the changes over the Summer, we like Boro, and we think Karanka is a good manager who knows his opposition well.

Bet: Middlesbrough to beat Birmingham, 4/5 odds at https://www.Bovada.lv.
