This week the PGA has the BMW Championship – a tournament formed in 2007.

Tiger Woods was the inaugral winner of that one, and he then repeated in 2009. This tournament always has the big names as winners with the likes of Rory McIlroy, and both Zach and Dustin Johnson.

Last year the winner was Billy Horschel.

It’s being played at the Conway Farms Golf Club in Illinois. This is only the second time it will have been played there. It was played previously there in 2013 when Zach Johnson took it down if you’re looking for course form.

Let’s check out the BMW Championship Betting Odds:

BMW Championship Betting Tip #1: Jim Furyk

It’s hard not to look at Jim Furyks form at this tournament and be like “Yep – gotta bet him”. So many Top 10 and Top 5 finishes and a 3rd place in 2013.

He’s also had his fair share of solid finishes this year. Winner of the RBC Heritage and numerous Top 5 finishes like at the RBC Canadian Open and the Deutsche Bank.

Time may have passed him by however in terms of peaking on that upper echelon – so we will be purely betting Jim Furyk for a Top 5 finish.

Bet: Furyk to finish Top 5 at .

BMW Championship Betting Tip #2: Zach Johnson

The odds on Johnson are 33/1 are excellent. You can see why though – all the money is going on Spieth, McIlroy and Day. Who would think at this time of year neither Speith or McIlroy would be the favourite for a tournament?

Johnson has been very, very good this season. he’s had a few rocky tournaments but his Open Championship win and the 4th place at the Barclays show he still has it. He can be erratic at times but coming in at such high odds is nice. Like Furyk there won’t be as much pressure on him.

It’s going to be tight and will go down to the wire but often that’s where Zach Johnson excels.

Bet: Take Zach Johnson to win and top 5 at .

BMW Championship Betting Tip #3: Jordan Spieth

We’re going to take Spieth to win, expecting him to step up this week.

Spieth has been disappointing lately. But he’s had 2 weeks off since the Deutsche Bank Championship to regroup. He’s mentally a strong player and that will help at a time like this – where he is changing his clubs and then changing them back.

The reaction to him is crazy. He’s had two bad tournaments. Look at his form for the rest of the season – absolutely incredible. Is he not allowed to change clubs, mess things up a bit and then take a little bit to turn things around?

We think we’ll really see what Spieth is made of here – and with Rory and Day taking away a lot of the pressure – this is where he can stand up.

Bet: Jordan Spieth to win at .
