Sometimes I really don’t understand the NBA. Last night, the Warriors headed into Portland as a -3 favorite. The game was 95-94 after three quarters and looked like it was going to go down to the wire. Instead, the Blazers outscored Golden State 35-12 to win this game easily. How, exactly, does a team with Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson get outscored like that? This league is crazy.

Of course, there are always circumstances. With four minutes left, Draymond Green was charged with a very questionable flagrant foul which led to Steve Kerr losing his mind and being hit with a double technical. It was a seven point game before those fouls, after them it was never close again.

This was only the Warriors second loss in their past eighteen games so you could say that they earned it. Despite that run, they still hold just a two game lead on the Nuggets who have really put together a great season. That team won’t quit, but it’s hard to imagine the Warriors not being the top seed.

NBA Betting Tips:

Charlotte Hornets at Orlando Magic: One team that has really been playing well of late is the Orlando Magic. They have won their last four games and are now just a game behind the Pistons for the 8th seed and two games behind the Hornets for the 7th seed. They play Charlotte here tonight and they really look like a great bet. The Hornets have just a 8-20 record on the road this season. The Magic -3 might be my favorite play of the night.

Oklahoma City Thunder at New Orleans Pelicans: The Pelicans are just a mess right now. They are being forced to play Anthony Davis, but they are limiting his minutes. They traded Mirotic away and the team just feels rudderless right now. The Thunder are 9-1 over their past ten and have won four straight games. Paul George is looking like a real MVP candidate and Russell Westbrook is putting up triple-doubles like crazy. I am puzzled why this line is so low and am all over the Thunder -4.5 here.

NHL Betting Tips:

Calgary Flames at Florida Panthers: The Flames are at 74 points, just one behind the top seed in the Western Conference. They recently lost that spot as the Sharks have won six straight and they’ve lost three straight. They need to get back on the winning side and have a great opportunity to do so tonight against Panthers. Florida is coming off back-to-back losses against the Lightning and Stars, and I just think the Flames -138 are going to get it done here tonight.

St. Louis Blues at Phoenix Coyotes: One of the hottest teams in hockey right now is the Blues who have won seven straight games. They are a West Wild Card right now and those wins have really helped to separate them from the crowd. The Wild are right on their tail though and the need to keep winning. I can’t go against this team right now and the Blues -150 should keep on rolling.
