For Thursday, February 21st we look towards the UEFA Europa League and the second round of matches.

I know I’ve got a large UK following and there’s a couple of UK teams in action of course. Arsenal host BATE Borisov hoping to overcome a 1-0 deficit. Celtic visit Valencia knowing they are pretty much out of the tournament. Chelsea host Malmo and while they are in disarray, they’ll be hoping for a professional performance to take care of the Swedes, home they beat 2-1 in the first leg.

Lot of games and I’ve spent some time looking through them all then trying to come up with some viable plays (lot of crap odds).

Here’s what we’ve got:

Valencia vs Celtic Betting Tips:

I watched the first leg of this game and it was an utter dire performance by Celtic. I’m not just saying that as a Rangers fan. I’m not going to say I didn’t take joy in it either – but they have a lot of problems.

Rodgers just can’t seem to adapt for Europe it seems, and unfortunately he doesn’t have anyone to replace Scott Brown. I hate Brown of course but he is an influential figure and unfortunately time has caught up on him. He doesn’t have the fitness anymore, and he loses every 50-50.

In the first leg Celtic looked frail defensively and they had nothing going on in attack.

Even if they drop Brown – and they probably should – I don’t think they have what it takes here. Valencia aren’t in the best form domestically but Celtic will be wanting to focus on the SPL anyway.

Benfica vs Galatasaray Betting Tips:

Benfica are on a great run domestically as are Galatasaray. Benfica snatched a 2-1 win away and I like them to wrap it up at home.

They are an excellent home team this season. They performed well enough in their group. It was a tough one with Ajax and Munich. Galatasaray didn’t do too well at all.

Benfica taking a 2-1 lead is nice as they should push a bit more here for that one extra goal and not be too wary about Galatasaray scoring. That’s always the concern when teams carry in away goals but with two I don’t think it should be much of a factor.
