Four NBA tips for February 24th, 2022.

We have a 69-46 record for the season to date.

The All-Star break is probably good for the players, but it always kills me as a bettor. I don’t really have an interest in the game or the festivities at this point so I’m left just looking for other games to bet. I was even looking for European basketball leagues at Gembet in search of some action. So I’m happy to see the return to action tonight.

My pick for the Finals is the same one it has been for months now, a rematch of the Suns and Bucks.

Phoenix has just been so much better than everyone this season and if they stay healthy they should be a very tough #1 seed. Phoenix is +450 to win the title.

Milwaukee has been excellent when their big three are together and if they get back Brook Lopez back, I don’t see a team in the East that can beat them. The Nets and Sixers deal makes both teams worse. The Bucks are +650 to win the title and +350 to win the East.

Still a lot of time until we get there though. For now, let’s get some wins tonight.

Atlanta Hawks at Chicago Bulls Betting Tips:

The Bulls just keep hanging on. They’ve dealt with more injuries and COVID issues than just about any team in the league, but they head into the “second half” of the season tied for the top seed in the Eastern Conference. They won five straight heading into the break and now have a pretty clean injury sheet outside of Lonzo Ball and Alex Caruso. The MVP buzz around DeMar DeRozan is real.

Atlanta has been one of the more up-and-down teams in the league this season. They won seven straight to end January, but are 4-4 in February. They are all offense and when that offense is clicking, they are great. They are the #2 offense by Offensive Rating with a 115.0. The Bulls have a 114.1 in the same category.

This is a huge number, but these teams can do it. The two previous games these teams played this season saw totals of 248. Coming out of the break with plenty of rest for both, I think they can do it again.

Memphis Grizzlies at Minnesota Timberwolves Betting Tips:

I’m not sure that I understand the line on this one. The Grizzlies are a much better team than the Wolves with ten more wins on the season to date. These two teams played in January and the Grizzlies won at home by eight points.

Memphis won nine of their last eleven games heading into the break. Minnesota won seven of ten games.

I just don’t see why Memphis doesn’t win this one. They have a center who can make things hard for KAT, the better offense, and the better defense.

Golden State Warriors at Portland Trail Blazers Betting Tips:

I think this line is way too high for the Warriors without Draymond and the way that the Blazers played heading into the break. I’ll probably feel dumb if the Warriors blow them out here, but I’m pretty sure that they won’t do that. The Warriors struggled before the break with a 1-4 record, including losses to the Knicks and Clippers.

It’s tough to compare these games because the roster of Portland is so different, but of the last four games at Portland – Golden State has only won by more than ten once.

Pick: Bet Blazers +10

Denver Nuggets at Sacramento Kings Betting Tips:

Nikola Jokic has been playing even better than he did last year in his MVP season and tonight he gets a juicy match-up against the Sacramento Kings. The Kings are the 29th ranked defense in the NBA so he should be able to do just about whatever he wants.

The Kings made the move for Sabonis which should make them better in the long term, but they seem to be kind of a mess in the short term.
