Today is the NBA trade deadline and while it is expected to be a quiet one, we have also heard that before. It doesn’t seem to matter when the deadline falls, teams will always get their moves in at the last minute like a college student writing a paper. There aren’t a lot of big names out there, but there are some teams looking to make moves that will improve their chances this year.

Oklahoma City is definitely a team to watch. After they took it to the Warriors the other night, they are probably feeling like this thing might just work and look harder for a Andre Roberson replacement. Another team to monitor is the Knicks who just lost Kristaps Porzingis for the year and really have no motivation to try and win anymore. They have some interesting pieces that could be on the move.

Of course, there is also the Cavaliers who need to do something, anything to try and salvage this season. Their defense is absolutely terrible and shedding some of their older players for younger guys would be addition by subtraction. Whether they are willing to do anything is another story. Today should be interesting.

I’ll just throw in a general warning on the NBA picks, if someone major from a team we pick gets traded: maybe lay off.

NBA Betting Tips:

The Thunder really showed something on Tuesday night against the Warriors. Paul George played some outstanding defense and they showed just how close they are to the top level teams in the West. I think that win will invigorate the team and they could go on a nice little run here. They draw a great match-up against the Lakers tonight. Westbrook is listed as questionable, but Paul George is more than capable of beating this team himself and with being from LA that is just added fuel to the fire. The Thunder -3 is a nice play tonight.

Portland is coming off a brutal three game stretch where they played the Celtics, Raptors and resurgent Pistons all on the road. They lost all three and finally return home tonight. The Blazers have a strong home record and play a Hornets team that is just 8-16 in road games this season. This is a good place for them to get back to their winning ways tonight and the Blazers -3 are a good pick.

NHL Betting Tips:

Things have been going bad for the Blackhawks this season since Corey Crawford went down and it’s looking more and more likely this team will miss the playoffs this season. That’s pretty crazy to think after the run they’ve been on over the past several years, but here we are. They draw the Stars tonight in what I think will be one of the higher scoring games of the night. The Hawks goalie situation is not good and they have the talent to get to Ben Bishop. I like the over 5.5 goals in this game.
