A big NBA headline this week was the Knicks firing Derek Fisher. The timing was strange and the move was strange. It’s not like this is a championship contending team or anything. Rumors that they are interested in Luke Walton also make this not make sense because he has a job with the Warriors who would not let him leave mid season. Just another weird move by the Knicks. Which shouldn’t be surprising except for the whole Phil Jackson factor. You think a former coach would look out for another coach, especially a hand picked one and former player. There could be more here than meets the eye. The Knicks play Washington tonight.

We also have a full slate of NHL games as well. We have three NHL tips as well as two NBA tips for you today so let’s just get right into it.

NBA Betting Tips:

The Milwaukee Bucks aren’t having the season that many pundits predicted them to have before the season started, but they have still played very well at home this season. They are 13-8 in home games and have won four of their last five in Milwaukee. Which is why it was surprising to see Milwaukee +4.5 on the betting slip today. The Celtics are a great team, but I have to take the strong home team getting the points.

The Knicks have Kurt Rambis as their interim coach following the firing of Derek Fisher and he is… not good as a head coach. A lot of people like to take a team after a coaching change, but this one? I think I am sticking with Washington +1. The Knicks are in the midst of a five game losing streak as it is and this has the recipe for disaster in New York.

NHL Betting Tips:

The Dallas Stars were one of the surprise teams of the first half. They limped into the All-Star break, but have won three of their last four and are looking like they will stick around. The Seguin-Benn line is a dangerous one and I really like this time going forward. They play the Wild tonight who are currently in the midst of a five-game losing streak and a 1-8-1 record over their past ten. This is the irresistible force versus the very movable object. Dallas -115 is a steal tonight.

Montreal takes on Tampa tonight as well and Montreal, despite winning two straight, has just been lost this season without Carey Price. His injury took what should’ve been a great season and turned it into a nightmarish one for the Habs. They run into a red hot Lightning team who are 8-2 over their past ten games. Tampa -130 should roll right through Montreal tonight.

The New York Islanders face the last Blue Jackets tonight and it should be an easy win. The Islanders are coming off of a dominating 8-1 game against the Oilers and should feast again tonight on another one of the league’s bottom feeders. Islanders -130 is the play here.
