The third day of the World Cup takes place on Saturday, June 16th. We’ll see both Group C fixtures taking place on that day. It starts early on with France vs Australia and then later in the day it’s Peru vs Denmark.

France are the favourites to win Group C with Australia the biggest underdogs so no surprise, France are expected to give them a good thumping here.

France got here by winning Group A in the the UEFA Qualificiation. It was one of the most difficult groups with heavy hitters like Sweden and the Netherlands and also Bulgaria. It’s impressive that they managed to get through with relative ease even though they dropped points in Belarus and at home to Luxembourg. They had their issues for sure but it was a tough group and they made it out.

Australia made it through after defeating Honduras in the AFC vs CONCACAF Play off. It was a struggle for Australia to get there having to go to injury time with Syria, and they struggled in the AFC coming in third in their group behind Saudi Arabia and Japan. To their credit however they only lost once and racked up 4 draws along with 5 wins.

France Analysis:

Of the first matchups taking place in the World Cup, France are the 2nd biggest favourites to win their match behind Belgium, who face Panama.

On paper France should be one of the favourites for the World Cup but their lack of consistency in the qualification stages was rather concerning. They do have an absolutely lethal strike force though and the biggest question is whether the team self-combusts or not. If Deschamps is able to get them working as a unit they could go all the way.

I can’t stop thinking about that Colombia loss though. They started off so strong with such a beautiful attack going then just disintegrated. It was atrocious watching the way they played that game after a hot start and just how bad they looked defensively.

France rely more on a speedy attack and counter attacking. I think Mbappé in particular is going to have an amazing World Cup.

Australia Analysis:

Losing their manager Ange Postecoglou following qualification makes things tricky. However this is a team with a lot of key players at the tail end of their careers so they’ll have the experience etc.

Not sure what we’ll see from them. They’ve had a few solid results in friendlies lately and I think we’ll see something like a 4-2-3-1 where they rely on defense more but have some pace up front.

I think against France especially we’ll see them try and sit back, get the ball then play the long balls up to guys like Leckie and Kruse.

France vs Australia Betting Tips:

I’m doing a small play of 1u on Both Teams To Score. France obviously have the attack quality to score the goals however they have had some real defensive lapses at times and Australia certainly have the players that can score – be it from a counter attack or a set piece. The price of 2.75 odds is great and worth a small play. Bet it at https://www.Bovada.lv
