Hi all,

Well it was our first losing week of the year which is pretty impressive – and one of my picks actually ended up winning so that was pretty neat. A good sign that still on the right track, etc.

That one was Scottie Scheffler. I was conservative with him and backed him for a Top 20 finish at 11/8 odds. He of course won, for a $237.50 return.

I do shake my head though looking back at it.

“You have to expect a win at some point from Scottie this year but I’m not sure this is the course for him to do that on. ”

If only I had more confidence in him. Honestly I am extremely impressed he was able to come back and win after the way that 18th went. Big respect for him.

This week on the PGA Tour we have the Genesis Invitational. There’s a bunch of other non-PGA tournaments of course such as the Chubb Classic, the LECOM Suncoast Classic etc. I hope at some point to get back to them it’s just hard to commit the time.

Anyway let’s get on with this one:

Genesis Invitational 2022 Betting Tips:

Betting Note: Betting amounts are based on confidence level. My normal betting amounts for the PGA are $125, $250 & $500, although I will go as low as $62.50 and as high as $1,000 on occasion. My most common bet is $125 and if you classify that as 1 unit, then I have made a 667.93 unit profit from 2014-2020. (full stats)

E/W (Each-Way) bets mean you split that amount. So if it is a $250 E/W bet, that means $125 on them to win, $125 on them to place (Usually in the Top 5)

$50 on Patrick Cantlay to Win at 12/1

This one is obviously a risk. Course form wise, he’s cracked the top 10 only once. He’s also coming off that tough one at Phoenix and you have to wonder if that will wear on him.

To be honest I thought I could pass on him based on both of those, but looking at the metrics etc I just feel at least by the numbers, we gotta risk something on him and I’m going to do a smaller bet on the outright price.

$150 on Cameron Smith E/W at 25/1

Right at the top of all the metrics for me. He came 4th here last year so hopefully he will remember the nuances of the greens at Riviera and be able to do the business here.

$75 on Sam Burns E/W at 40/1

I wish this lad was in form as it would be a much bigger bet here. He knows how to perform on this course with a third place last year. Thing is he is one of those guys that can bounce back very, very strong out of nowhere so hoping for something like that this week.

$250 on Talor Gooch Top 20 at 2/1

Coming in playing quite well. He’s performed well here in the past as well. All my numbers say he can get a top 10 finish. So it’s up to you – you could bet less here to go for Top 10. I’m going to go for the slightly less risk on finishing position, for a higher amount of 2u on him here.
