Welcome to the sports betting tips for January 9th, 2019.

It’s a new year which means one awesome thing – golf is back! And that means I’ll be covering golf each and every Wednesday here at SBT.

Looking forward to it. Of course I will cover other sports too but primarily golf on Wednesdays.

Let’s get on with this weeks golf action and we will also cover the NBA as well.

This week we have the Sony Open with Justin Thomas the overwhelming favourite. Behind him are Bryson DeChambeau, Gary Woodland and Jordan Spieth. Spieth? Really? Wow.

Let’s get to it:

Sony Open 2019 Betting Tips:

All of these bets are to win and top 5.

Cameron Champ: I’m actually going fairly big on Champ with a half unit bet. My bets are usually 1/8, 1/4, 1/2 and 1u so that shows I am confident in him despite the fact he has never played here before. He’s coming in strong after a great performance and I like him to keep that going. He just really suits this course as well and I think Champ can do the business.

Gary Woodland: This is someone that has performed well here before and we all saw that he is on fire after last week. He was very unlucky as he played a solid final round of golf but still lost the lead. I don’t see that getting him down. I think he keeps it going and uses that as motivation to play even better. In saying that it’s just a 1/8 play.

Cameron Smith: He’s hit this course well previously and I think he will get the year off to a good start. Another 1/8 play.

Charles Howell III: I mean if you just base your picks on “current form” and “course form” old Charley boy is at the top of that list. This one is good enough to go with 1/4u.

NBA Tips for January 9th, 2019

Pelicans -14: Over at NBATips.net I backed the Cavs last night to cover the point spread and they did. However I think they will get blown out tonight. That’s what the Pelicans are doing at the moment – having fun blowing teams out and just keep pushing. They’re well rested as well while the Cavs are on a back to back plus travels and that was a hard fought game. Bonus is Larry Nance Jr got injured last night. Yep have to take the Pelicans here.

Spurs -3: I feel good backing the hot Spurs here. Gay is out but they didn’t need him against the Pistons. They are just one of those teams that you watch them at the moment you can’t help but be impressed. They’re all working together. Grizzlies look to have lost their way. Sometimes you worry about a team like the Grizzlies “raising their game” but the Spurs will be ready for them and will be wary regardless of their losing streak.
