Hi everyone and welcome to the golf tips for this week.
We’ve got two tournaments that I will by paying attention to and handicapping this week which are the Abu Dhabi, and the Amex Championship.
First of all a quick recap of last week. It was fun to see the tournament go to a playoff again. Always love me a playoff. Alas our only contender was Corey Conners who had a strong finish but it wasn’t enough. He came tied for 12th.
I did mention last week Kevin Kisner was close to a bet. I didn’t back him but I hope some of you did as he finished Top 4 and would have been a good bet for Top 5.
So just a reminder before the tips – I generally bet E/W bets. Americans that means take your unit and split it up between to win and top 5 if your sportsbook doesn’t offer E/W betting. I bet from 1-5 units based on confidence.
Let’s get to it:
Abu Dhabi Bets:
Something rare for this one is that when I ran my metrics for this, all the top favourites were at the top. Usually never see that. Anyway it ranked them Cantlay, Fleetwood then Brooks.
Speaking of the man himself….
2u on Cantlay to finish in the top 5. +220 odds for this one. I backed Cantlay for a Top 5 finish 2 weeks ago in the Tournament of Champions at +200 odds and he duly delivered there. I am not sure if he can win and I don’t think the odds are there to justify backing him to win. It’s very tricky. However I do think he will be there or thereabouts at the end and is worth a bet on him here.
2u on Viktor Hovland to win and Top 5 at +2500 odds. He was right up there in the metrics system for me along with the top 3. I think he can be a contender here. Granted he’s never played this particular tournament but look at the way he performed in the Hero Challenge. He is running hot and I’m good backing him here.
1u on Paul Waring to win and Top 5. 1u on Top 10 Finish. So two bets here – three if you can’t bet E/W. 0.5u on Waring to win, 0.5u on Top 5 Finish, 1u on Top 10 Finish. Got it? He finished off last year very well and I think he will perform well on this course. He should be a contender.
Amex Championship Bets:
This is a tricky one with three diferent courses used. Only two bets both of which are 1u and are to win and top 5.
The first one is Sungjae Im who is +1600 odds. I think he can be a contender here and finished 12 last year.
The other is Vaughn Taylor who is at +5000. He’s playing excellent golf and I think will have fun with this tournament.
Bonus NHL Bet:
2u on Blues in Regulation. Look these guys are fantastic just have to bet them. If they lose they lose but at -110 odds, it’s a great price.
