Welcome to the sports betting tips for January, 23rd 2019.

On Wednesdays I always cover the golf and we had a solid outing last week.

Of course it could have been soooo much better.

The Abu Dhabi tournament we had a top 5 cash with Louis Oosthuizen. That was okay. However we missed out on Pablo Larrazabal who finished 1 stroke behind the top 5. He was 110/1 and that would have been a huge cash. Very disappointed to miss out on that one.

We also had Adam Hadwin to win/top 5 the Desert Classic. It looked like it was going to happen or at the very least we’d get a playoff alas on the 18th hole, Adam Long hit an impressive birdie and he won it by a stroke.

However it was very good to see us on the right track there and Brian Stuard had looked a contender too despite being at big odds.

Here are the two betting slips for those wins:

Let’s move on to this weeks action.

Golf Bets for January 23rd, 2019

Farmers Insurance Open 2019: I’m on 4 golfers to win and E/W here. Remember E/W means Top 5 if you don’t have E/W bets at your sportsbook split your bet on to win, and top 5.

First one is Marc Leishman. He’s got excellent form and excellent course form. It’s a top heavy tournament so going to be tough but I like this chances.

Next up is Ryan Palmer. He’s a whopping 100/1 but hey Pablo was higher than that last week and look how close he came. He looked okay last week and he also has a 2nd place here from the prior year. Got to think he is a contender.

I also like Patrick Cantlay. He has never performed well here however metric wise he does stand out and he’s coming in on the back of a couple of good performances.

Finally Cameron Champ. Honestly really don’t “feel” him this week however when I ran analysis and simulations he kept popping up.

Dubai Desert Classic: Only three bets here. First is Sergio Garcia to win. Playing well, likes this tournament and stands out for me with a solid price.

Then two to win & E/W bets. Lee Westwood who did well at the Abu Dhabi and looks to be retaining the excellent form he finished in 2018 at, and Andy Sullivan who is playing some solid golf.

NHL Bets for January 23rd, 2019:

Wild/Avs Over 6: Last games before the NHL All Star break. Looking at the games today and the standings, I think these are two teams who want to go in hot so they should be battling it out. Wild have finally got a streak going and will want to continue it. Avs are on a bit of a rough stretch and don’t play again until next month so they should be equally motivated.

Hurricanes to win: Including OT/SO. If you are into advanced metrics you know the Canes are always at the top of those. While it doesn’t translate on the ice I do believe they are well worth a play here.
