Last night’s Grand Slam of Darts action was supposed to have as much drama and excitement as Monday night’s games. However, for me, it failed to live up to expectations. We had Ronny Huybrechts and Phil Taylor comfortably win matches they were expected to win – Taylor not even allowing Kevin Painter a dart at a double. And then the matches that were between two players competing for the final spot in the last 16 didn’t have much fight in them, either. Christian Kist doubled like a pub player, as did Dean Winstanley. Stuart Kellett scored like one. It ended up being formalities for Adrian Lewis and Paul Nicholson, while Winstanley’s failure meant Kim Huybrechts only needed to win a leg to secure his path into the next round. And he managed that with ease.
