Well, we’re nearly halfway through January, so that means the Superbowl picture is shaping up nicely. We have four teams left standing: Patriots, Packers, Colts and Seahawks. Quite a predictable line-up, but definitely a deserving final four.

In the matches themselves, we got the Colts game bang on, and not only did they beat the 7 point line, they actually took out the Broncos quite comfortably. As for the Packers, we missed out on a perfect night by a measly point. Thanks, Green Bay! Still, you get games where you get the W by a point, and sometimes you get the L by a point, so it all works out in the end. It just sucks when it happens.

Tonight, we’ve got our usual NBA and NHL tips, but our darts tipper has moved onto his second favourite sport – snooker. The Masters is taking place in London, and he’s got one that he really like for tomorrow’s action. Admittedly, he claims he’s not happy backing it, but a win’s a win in his book!

NBA Betting Tips for January 12th

Only four games in the NBA tonight, so we’ll have a look at where we can find the value in all of them.

Detroit vs Toronto.

This game is huge for both sides, with Detroit looking hot and finding form at the right time, while Toronto are slumping a bit, although their win on Saturday stopped the rot. The key result here was Detroit’s narrow loss to Atlanta, where they went down by only 3 points. It’s a sign that the Pistons might have finally turned the corner and can hang with the big boys. Detroit to beat Toronto outright is huge value for us, but if you want to be more cautious, take the +6 points, as Detroit are more than good enough to make that advantage count.

Houston vs Brooklyn.

Man versus boys here. Nothing much to say other than the Rockets should take the Nets to school here, and Houston -6 could be a gift from the betting gods if everything plays out the way it should. The Nets are having trouble all over the court, the Rockets are becoming stronger and stronger throughout the side, so it’s a no-brainer here.

New Orleans vs Boston.

Ugh, this is one for fans of both teams only. If you’re betting on this, you better have your Pelicans or Celtics uniform on as you make the bet, because we can’t find an angle other than blind loyalty to either side. It could be low scoring, high scoring, one could blow away the other. The fact is, both teams suck so hard right now that we can’t read anything into it. Avoid it like the plague.

Orlando vs Chicago.

Look for Chicago to continue their domination of the struggling Magic tonight. While the Bulls were on the skids a little recently, they have more than enough to dispose of the terrible Magic. When it all clicks for the Bulls, they are a match for most sides, and far too good for a team like the Magic. Take Chicago -10.5 points to beat the Magic.

NHL Betting Tips for January 12, 2014:

Just the one tip for us tonight in the NHL, but we do love it.

Lightning vs Flyers.

Goals, goals, goals here. We have the competition’s highest scoring team in action tonight, the Tampa Bay Lightning and with Steve Mason out for the Flyers, the Lightning are going to have a field day. Add in that in their last meeting it finished 4-3 and you can see why we’ve marked this down for over 5.5 goals. We think it’s going to be high scoring, so get on.

Snooker Betting Tip For 13 January:

This game takes place tomorrow, but we’re getting it up early so you don’t miss out.

Barry Hawkins vs Ali Carter.

It’s great to see Ali Carter back on the baize, it really is. Fighting back from cancer is an amazing achievement, and to come back and compete in the Masters is nothing short of phenomenal. However, we think that his exertions may have left him short of the level needed to compete at the highest level in the sport right now, so we have to take Barry Hawkins -1.5 frames to beat Ali Cater. While it’s not something we’re proud of, we have to find an edge, and Carter not being at the top of his form is something we have to back against.
