Three NBA tips for January 20th, 2022.
A 3-2-1 record last week brings us to 51-29 on the season.
NBA had the big MLK celebration of games on Monday so Tuesday’s schedule was pretty weak and I took the day off.
New Orleans Pelicans at New York Knicks Betting Tips:
Both of these teams head into this game with back-to-back losses. The big difference here is that the Knicks are playing at home and have somewhat of a defense.
These two teams are about even in Offensive Rating, but the Pelicans have a 112.8 Defensive Rating on the season compared to the Knicks 109.5. That three points is a lot in a game like this.
New York isn’t the best team at home with an 11-13 record at MSG. That is amazing compared to the Pelicans who are just 6-17 away from home this season. I don’t feel the best about it, but signs are pointing to Knicks win here.

Phoenix Suns at Dallas Mavericks Betting Tips:
It seems to me this line should be much higher. The Mavericks are playing their third game in four nights and the second half of a back-to-back against one of the best teams in the NBA. What am I missing here?
Dallas has not beaten the Suns since 2019. Six of those seven wins were by more than three points. Yes, DeAndre Ayton is out, but this team has handled the storm well without him thus far and I think they handle this one easily.
If I feel least confident in the Knicks, I feel most confident in the Suns.

Indiana Pacers at Golden State Warriors Betting Tips:
This total is way out of line for the conditions of this game. The Pacers are playing their third game in four nights and the second half of a back-to-back.
The Pacers have lost ten of their last twelve games ands are without some of their best players. Myles Turner and T.J. Warren have been out, but now they are adding Sabonis to that list. This team was already not the best at scoring and now they lose him too.
Golden State is still without Draymond Green and will be missing Otto Porter who has provided some scoring of late for this one.
The Warriors have gone under in 27 of 44 games this season.
