I wasn’t able to post any tips yesterday thanks to my internet service provider turning off my internet on Saturday night. Apparently because my neighbor set-up their internet, they had to turn off mine. A few hours on the phone and a trip to the retail location later and I was back online, 24 hours later. I am hoping to get tips up for every day of the season except for that one.

Of course, now we have questions on how long the season will even last. The Marlins are the center of a coronavirus outbreak in Major League Baseball with 11 players testing positive. The team voted to play yesterday despite multiple positive tests which is not how this thing is meant to work. You can’t go out there and “win one for the Gipper” when you are likely infected by the same thing that took the Gipper out.

We are going to proceed with our tips as long as these games are happening. Today we have two tips, let’s get into it.

Best Odds for MLB:

Type of Bet / Prop: Where To Bet:
R + H + E BetOnline
MLB Grand Salami (Total Runs That Day) Bet365
World Series Futures SportsBetting.ag
5 Inning Run Lines BetOnline
1st Inning Moneylines Bet365

All tips based on the starting pitchers listed. Tips should be considered void if any pitching changes are made unless otherwise noted.

Seattle Mariners at Houston Astros Betting Tips:

Seattle: Kendall Graveman 4.38 ERA/4.54 FIP (Career)
Houston: Josh James 4.70 ERA/3.98 FIP (2019)

I am using Graveman’s career stats here because he only made two appearances at the minor league level last year. He had an awful 2018 season and ended up getting Tommy John surgery that year. The Mariners took a flier on him making a comeback this year and will start him here. This is a big start for him on a personal level, but not a great match-up for him on any level. The Astros offense is stacked and I can see him having a rough day. I also wouldn’t expect him to go deep even if he does do well as he’s likely to build himself up. The Mariners bullpen is nothing special, they used seven pitchers to get the win yesterday, and I think the Astros can hit them today.

The Astros start Josh James here who is getting his shot at being a starter. He’s had enormous strikeout numbers throughout his career and had a 14.67 K/9 rate out of the bullpen last season. The projection systems like him to have a good season and I like him to have a good game here. Lay the runs.

Bet Astros -1.5 (-118)

New York Mets at Boston Red Sox Betting Tips:

Mets: Michael Wacha 4.76 ERA/5.61 FIP (2019)
Red Sox: Josh Osich (opener) ERA 4.66 ERA/4.96 FIP (2019)

The Red Sox will be using the opener here and he will be followed by Zack Godley (5.97 ERA/5.20 FIP). Neither one of those pitchers gives me a ton of confidence, but the system likes the Red Sox here. The Red Sox offense does give me confidence though and I think they can win what is potentially going to be a slugfest. The total is set at 11.5 runs here so we should be expecting a ton of offense.

Michael Wacha is in for a long day. He had a huge 1.85 HR/9 rate last season and now he gets to face this offense in this park. The Red Sox should have a great day at the plate and I think they are a good value here.

Bet Red Sox -110
