After the excitement of Saturday night, Sunday brought with it all kinds of action, too. The big news was Chelsea winning the English Premiership after squeaking past Crystal Palace 1-0. Dodgy decisions galore in that match, but, you know what, Chelsea were far too consistent over the season compared to Manchester City and Arsenal, and well deserved the title. Mourinho gets stick for playing boring football, but he wins thing. Arsenal and Manchester City might be much more entertaining to watch, but if you’re not winning titles, it counts for nothing. The only fans that will say they’ve enjoyed watching their team this season and will be really happy with the league finish is Crystal Palace fans – Palace have played exciting football for the most part, and are going to finish mid-table instead of battling relegation. Maybe Alan Pardew will be the next Chelsea manager, that would keep everyone happy, surely.

Elsewhere, the Blackhawks went 2-0 over the Wild in what is starting to look a one-sided contest. Ducks are also punishing the Flames, as are the Lightning over the Canadiens. We’re not expecting every series to finish as whitewashes, but it would be good if the tide started to turn so we can have some excitement. Our NHL tips went 2-1, missing out on a perfect night by one goal in the Blackhawks game. Damn it, Wild, put up a fight! Just the one game tonight, Rangers in Washington.

And in the NBA, the Wizards took a shock 1-0 lead in the series over the Hawks, running out six point winners. The Warriors eased to a comfortable win over the Grizzlies in a result that everyone expected. Tonight, Chicago are in Cleveland, while the Clippers head to Houston.

So, let’s get right onto the free sports betting tips for May 4th, 2015.

NHL Playoff Betting Tips:

The Rangers are in the capital tonight, with the series tied at 1-1. There is a big deal being made about the lack of goals in the playoff so far, and that is, in a big part, down to the goalkeeping. The goalies are hitting form at the right time, and it might not make for high-scoring games, but the competition’s big guns are having to work hard for those goals. And the man who is suffering more than most is Alexander Ovechkin. The Capitals need him on form, and maybe now’s the time, after his great goal over the weekend. Take the Capitals in regulation in what will be a tight game, purely on the basis that Ovechkin’s confidence appears to be coming back, which is what Washington are going to need.

NBA Playoff Betting Tips:

Game 1 in both semi-finals tonight. Chicago have a tough one against the Cavs, but Cleveland are coming into this missing Kevin Love and JR Smith, while the Bulls are, for what seems a rarity for them this season, at full strength. The Bulls are a huge price to win tonight, but err on the safe side and take the points, Chicago Bulls +4.5, as Lebron is the one many you need when the side is understrength.

As for the Rockets and Clippers, this is all about one well-rested side, and one side that was taken to Game 7 against one of the best teams in the competition. The Rockets have had almost a week to rest and prepare, the Clippers have done it tough, last playing on Saturday night. Rockets -6 coming off a nice break makes perfect sense to us.

English Premiership Betting Tip

Hull vs Arsenal.

A huge game for both sides, with Arsenal needing the win to try and cement second place ahead of Manchester City. Hull need a win for survival. Of course, Hull are hating their run-in, Arsenal are loving it. Arsenal are a shade of odds-on, take Arsenal -1 as they look for a big finish to the season. They’re a far classier team, capable of scoring for fun, and that’s what they have to do tonight.
