NBA Opening Night & MLB Playoffs Betting Tips

Two MLB playoffs tips and two NBA Opening Night picks!

The NBA is back. Last season I did a Tuesday/Thursday schedule and I think I will mostly stick to that this season as well unless there is a game that really grabs me. I will then go all out for the playoffs with tips on 90% of games.

Brooklyn Nets at Milwaukee Bucks Betting Tips:

The Milwaukee Bucks will have their championship presentation tonight and if that isn’t enough to hype them up to win, what will be?

Brooklyn will be without Kyrie Irving tonight, but they still have two of the best players in the world in James Harden and Kevin Durant. I don’t think it will matter.

There is something about winning this championship that should really unlock something in this Milwaukee Bucks team. That level of self doubt is gone and now they can play with the confidence of NBA champions. I am really expecting a great season out of them, bet over 54.5 wins on them, and it all starts tonight in front of what should be a very happy home crowd.

Golden State Warriors at Los Angeles Lakers Betting Tips:

I think the Warriors are going to bounce back in a major way this season. One of the big issues with them last season was just how bad they were when Steph Curry was off the floor, but they have made big upgrades to the bench. Andre Iguodala has returned to the fold along with Otto Porter Jr. and Nemanja Bjelica.

It was the preseason so I don’t want to put too much stock into it, but Jordan Poole looked like a Steph Curry-lite in the preseason. He can shoot from all over which will take pressure off Steph.

The Lakers are the Lakers. They added Russell Westbrook which I think will cause some growing pains. He’s a guy who likes to have the ball in his hands a lot, but so does LeBron who is the real guide of the offense. This team is stacked and should be on the favorites in the West, but they are a veteran team that will typically start slow and ramp themselves up.

Pick: Bet Warriors/Lakers Over 226.5

MLB Betting Tips:

Atlanta Braves at Los Angeles Dodgers Betting Tips:

I never would’ve expected the Braves to be up 2-0 in the playoffs thus far, but that’s what happens when you bat last in a tie game. You can get walked off. Now, should the Braves be the home team in this series? Absolutely not, but that is a different discussion.

I do expect the Dodgers to bounce back with a win at home and Walker Buehler on the mound. The Braves had just a 100 wRC+ against righties on the season.

Charlie Morton is about equal to Buehler, but the Dodgers are a much more dangerous offense with a 107 wRC+ on the season against righties.

Scoring early has not been a problem for the Dodgers thus far in this series. Scoring late has been so don’t even deal with that and bet the Dodgers F5 line.

Pick: Bet Dodgers -0.5 First 5 Innings

Houston Astros at Boston Red Sox Betting Tips:

That total is up to 10 runs on this game after two straight wild games of 13 runs or more. Game one had 9 runs scored so we shouldn’t expect much different here.

Zack Greinke is a great one, Hall of Famer, but his best days are behind him. He had a 4.16 ERA/4.71 FIP on the season with basically no strikeouts. Don’t expect much out of him today.

The same can be said about Nick Pivetta who had a 4.53 ERA/4.28 FIP on the season. He has some impressive strikeout numbers, but walks were a problem and you don’t want to walk the Astros. Bad idea.

I think we can see another over here, but it starts early. Taking the F5 over.

Pick: Bet Over 5.5 Runs First 5 Innings

Canada: Best Odds: 1.95 at Sports Interaction – $125 Bonus
USA: Best Odds: -105 at BetOnline – 50% to $1000 Welcome Bonus
Everyone Else: Best Odds: 1.95 at SportsBetting.ag – 50% to $1000 Welcome Bonus
(Odds correct as of 2021/10/19 10:53:56 AM EST but are subject to change.)
