A 2-1 record last night.

How about those Blazers? The win in game one was not that big of a surprise to me, but the final score was. The Blazers, one of the three worst defenses in the league during the regular season, held the Lakers to just 93 points last night. The big difference here was the three-pointers as the Blazers hit 13 compared to a 5/32 night for the Lakers. You can not win in this league with a difference like that. LeBron James played a good game and Davis had 28 points, but everyone else on the Lakers was a zero. The Lakers will really need to step things up for game two.

We also got the win with the Heat over the Pacers. This game was close through three quarters, but the Heat really locked it down in the fourth and won 113-101. Jimmy Butler lead the way with 28 points and Bam Adebayo finished with 17 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists.

Our only loss was the Rockets beating the Thunder in game one. The Rockets dominated the first half and entered with a 68-52 score. That was really all there was to this one as the Thunder never came back from that. The threes were a big part of this one as well as the Rockets made 20 compared to 13 for the Thunder.

In the early game, the Bucks got smoked by the Magic. There are always some weird upsets on the first day, last year the Raptors lost game one against the Magic as well, and we saw them with both #1 seeds. This was a very similar story to the Lakers game as the non-Giannis players simply didn’t show up.

Utah Jazz vs. Denver Nuggets Betting Tips:

We got the win in game one of this series with the Nuggets. That game took overtime and I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Jazz return serve here.

That said, I am not looking at a side here and instead looking at the total. The first game of this series had a final score of 260, 230 in regulation, but the total on this one is still set at just 217.5. The Jazz team we saw in the bubble plays a much higher scoring brand of basketball than the team we saw during the regular season and I think they are going to continue to post some high scores here.

Philadelphia 76ers vs. Boston Celtics Betting Tips:

The Celtics took a big hit in their game one win with the loss of Gordon Hayward who is going to miss four weeks. That definitely hurts their spacing and shooting, but I still don’t think it’s going to be enough to swing things the Sixer’s way for this one.

Philly’s flaws were on full display in game one as Joel Embiid went silent down the stretch, they had a ton of turnovers, and nobody really stepped up when it mattered. That’s just who Philly are as currently constructed with Brett Brown as head coach. I don’t see any magic potion changing that and I expect a similar result here.

Brown and Tatum combined for 61 in game one and I can see a similar performance here as they step up big in Hayward’s abscence.

Bet Celtics -4.5

Dallas Mavericks vs. Los Angeles Clippers Betting Tips:

The Mavericks definitely delivered a strong punch in game one with a 42 point, nine assist, and seven rebound game by Luka Doncic, but the Clippers took it and finished it off. Things may have turned out differently if Kristaps Porzingis wasn’t ejected from this game n the third quarter as the Mavs were up five at that point.

I still think the Clippers would probably end up winning that one, but I would’ve felt a heck of a lot better about our over play. I’m assuming he doesn’t do that again here and the over comes in.
