It’s a busy Thursday in the NHL today with 11 games in store for us.

The season is just over a week old. Most teams have locked up their first wins but there is still quite a few teams looking for that win. At least one winless streak will end as the Sharks take on the Blackhawks.

The Sens host the Blues looking for their first win and the Wild go to the Jets looking for theirs.

In this article I’m going to go through each game and provide my betting tip opinion on it.

I’ll do each bet in confidence level of 0.5, 1 and 2 where 2 is max confidence units.

Let’s get to it:

NHL Tips: October 10th, 2019:

Penguins vs Ducks: This is one of those games where the odds still seem based off previous years and name value rather than anything else. The Penguins have been gifted a multiple game opening homestead yet have blown it badly. Ducks have meanwhile performed well in winning all 3 games with great performances from John Gibson. Penguins lost Hornqvist too. Despite that I do believe the Ducks are a little fortunate with their schedule. I think the Pens will win, but with a couple of injuries and players not fully fit, the value is clearly on Ducks – 0.5u to win.

Canadiens vs Red Wings: Is the Habs strategy to make the playoffs by exactly 82 points, taking every game to overtime? Seems like it. They are surprising favourites here however after a back to back, I am not too sure. You can’t just assume Price is going to show up anymore. The game really seems to be passing him by. I think the Red Wings are an excellent value play, but I’m going to back Over 6for 0.5u. Habs can’t keep the goals out but have continued to look strong offensively. In saying that I would advise a 0.5u play on the Red Wings which is excellent value.

Devils vs Oilers: This Devils team is a serious, serious concern at the moment. The Oilers are a team that I find it hard to back, but are looking good. James Neal is an excellent addition. Oilers aren’t taking the cup, but I’m good at backing them for 2u on Oilers to win. If the Devils pull off a miracle tonight and turn it around then so be it. But they placed a lethargic Flyers team last night and didn’t look good at all.

Leafs vs Lightning: I don’t really have too much faith in the Lightning here, however it it’s extremely hard to back against a team with the talent they have. They can show up at will. I think they’ll raise their game here and this will be a barnburner of a game. 1u on the Over 6.5.

Senators vs Blues: The Blues have had a tough schedule to start the year and look good. However I often see teams get a passing mark there then lose in an upset. I smell that upset here. 0.5u on the Sens

Jets vs Wild: Wild are going to be motivated to get a win but they can’t stop conceding. Jets have a solid offense. Seems like one of those games where both teams are up for it and we get the goals. 1u on Over 6

Predators vs Capitals: Can’t back anything here.

Stars vs Flames: Stars got their first win over the Caps. They will look to ride that wave as Calgary come to visit. Flames have been iffy to start the season. Tricky game and no bet for me.

Blackhawks vs Sharks: Haven’t seen enough of the Blackhawks to judge. Honestly I’d love the Hawks here but you have to wonder how that trip to Europe and coming back will affect them. They may end up jaded etc. No bet as much as I want to back the Hawks while the Sharks struggle.

Avalanche vs Bruins: The Bruins are looking damn solid to start the season. They’re the better team, and I like that to continue here. 1u on the Bruins to win

Knights vs Coyotes: Coyotes have looked solid defensively but they have not got what it takes to contain the Knights. Sorry Arizona fans you’re going to remain winless. Knights win
