Week 8 of the NFL is in the books and we still have four undefeated teams left standing. The Broncos beat the Packers handily in a battle of the undefeateds and they are the class of the NFL along with the Patriots, Panthers and Bengals. We’re roughly halfway through the season so it’ll be interesting to see if any of these teams makes a run at an undefeated year. The Patriots schedule looks especially favorable for them, but anything can happen in an NFL season.

With the football week over the focus shifts to basketball and hockey. There is one great match-up on the NBA schedule tonight as the Atlanta Hawks take on the Miami Heat. The Heat seemed to have rebounded well from last year with a healthy Chris Bosh, an exciting Justise Winslow and a healthy (for now) Dwayne Wade. While the Hawks are 3-1 they aren’t quite the juggernaut we saw last night and have shown that they are missing DeMarre Carroll in these early games. Both of these teams are elite (in the East) and this could be a fun match-up tonight.

In hockey, we have a great Eastern Conference match-up between the Washington Capitals and New York Rangers. These two are jockeying for position in the East’s Metropolitan division and this is as good as a game you’re likely to see this early in the season. Plus, a big Western Conference match-up between two likely playoff teams as the Kings face the Blues. It should be a good night of hockey all around.

NBA Betting Tips:

The Heat open as big four point favorites against the Hawks tonight in Miami. The bookmakers are really into the Heat this season as they are one of the biggest Eastern Conference favorites outside of the Cavaliers. On paper, they are one of the most talented teams in the league so it makes sense. Still, these things can take some time to gel and the Hawks are the epitome of a team that has jelled. They have played together more and everyone is okay with their roles. If this game was later in the season I would probably go with Miami, but with the Heat still figuring things out I have to go with Atlanta +4.

The Charlotte Hornets really want to be a contender in this league, but their schedule is doing them no favors. They’ve already played the Hawks twice, the Heat and now look for their first win against the Bulls tonight. That’s three or the likely top four teams in the East. They won’t get that win tonight and the Bulls -3.5 will grab the win.

With DeMarcus Cousins unlikely to play tonight and the Kings being the Kings, we’re all over the Grizzlies -4.5 tonight. Get it before it jumps up.

NHL Betting Tips:

As we mentioned before tonight’s Capitals and Rangers should be a good one. This one, to me, is all about the goaltending. While both teams have high powered offenses, they should run into brick walls by the name of Henrik Lundqvist and Braden Holtby. Both of these teams are allowing under 2.3 goals per game and I think that sets them up perfectly to go under 5 goals tonight.

College Football Betting Tips:

The undefeated Toledo Rockets take on Northern Illinois tonight in college football action. This battle of two MAC teams isn’t expected to be a great one though as Toledo is favored by eight points. While they both have the crazy offenses that MAC teams have come to be known for, Toledo’s defense should be the difference in this one. They are holding opponents below 17 points on the season and are simply the better team here tonight. Bet Toledo -8 tonight.
