Big news in the NHL today as the Blackhawks fired Joel Quenneville. The Hawks
have lost five straight, but they are still 6-6-3 on the season. Over the past ten years as coach, Quenneville has made himself the second winningest coach in NHL history.

Three Stanley Cup wins and two more conference finals, Quenneville is clearly the greatest coach in Blackhawks history. The salary cap has really done this team in over the past few years with Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews taking up so much of the cap, but a lot of trades haven’t gone their way and the youth just hasn’t been there. How any of that is Quenneville’s fault, I don’t know.

The sports just keeps rolling on though. Tonight we have some big games in both the NHL and NBA, plus the beginnings of the college basketball season with one huge game between Duke and Kentucky.

NHL Betting Tips:

One game that really jumped off the schedule to me tonight is the Edmonton Oilers and the Tampa Bay Lightning. The offensive firepower between these two teams is off the charts. Conor McDavid and Brayden Points are the big names here and I am expecting some fireworks in this one. Both of these teams are averaging over three goals per game and I like the over in this one.

Bet Oilers/Lightning Over 6 Goals (including OT)

College Basketball Betting Tips:

Duke and Kentucky have absolutely dominated college basketball over the past decade plus. There has been a ton written about this recruiting class for Duke as some are saying it’s the best in Coach K’s career. Zion Williamson is the big one, but RJ Barrett and Cam Reddish also have NBA potential.

That said, this is still Kentucky we’re talking about. Brothers Travis and PJ Washington, Keldon Johnson and Tyler Herro lead the way here. Herro can really fill it up from the outside which is going to be dangerous as Kentucky usually doesn’t have great three-point shooters.

This game is taking place on a neutral court which I think favors Duke. They have the bigger following and I like their coach a lot more when it comes to strategy. Taking the points here.

Bet Dukes +1.5

NBA Betting Tips:

Two of the worst defenses in the NBA this year have been the Washington Wizards and the Dallas Mavericks. Guess who plays each other tonight? These two teams have really been victimized by the modern NBA style on that end and I think they will do a great job of victimizing each other in this one. This feels like a 115-110 type of game and an easy over.

Bet Wizards/Mavericks Over 225

In my opinion, the best team in the NBA this season has been the Milwaukee Bucks. Giannis Antetokounmpo has been the MVP favorite, but he hasn’t even really had to flex his talents that much this season. Everyone around him has been doing well enough that he hasn’t had to carry the load at all this year. The Giannis domination game is coming though and I can’t wait for it.

This team is just clicking on all cylinders. They draw a tough match-up tonight against the Blazers in Portland. I like the Bucks defense against Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum here though. They can throw a lot of looks at them and I think the Bucks size and shooting will win out here.

Bet Bucks -1
