A big day in baseball today as both the Mets and Royals are one win away from punching their ticket to the World Series. The Royals have looked unbeatable in this series against the Blue Jays and have a chance to finish things off tonight in Toronto. The Mets have also looked great as their pitching has simply shut down the Cubs hitters while the Cubs pitchers have looked human after playing so excellent down the stretch and in the NLDS. They’ll need some seriously good mojo to come back from a 3-0 deficit in this series and I’m not quite sure this is their year. I guess we’ll find out tonight.

We also have a full slate of NHL games. It’s still early in the season, but teams are starting to show themselves a little bit. The Montreal Canadiens are undefeated thus far and are looking like the Stanley Cup contender we all thought they would be. While the Columbus Blue Jackets are still looking for that first win. It’s still early, but I think we’re looking at a draft team right there.

MLB Playoffs Betting Tips:

The Blue Jays were absolutely demolished yesterday and that might be the type of game that you don’t come back from. They send Marco Estrada to the mound who got hit pretty hard by the Royals earlier in this series. He goes against Edinson Volquez who had a great start in game 1 with six scoreless innings. He is not the type of pitcher who usually shuts down the Jays though and I expect that to reverse today. This series has seen some serious run totals put on the board and I see that continuing today as the Jays go down swinging. Over 9 runs is a fair number for a game that could end up in the teens.

The Cubs finally get a break from the Mets string of aces today with rookie lefty Steven Matz taking the mound. Matz had a nice little season in limited appearances this season and has a bright future ahead of him, but I don’t like his chances against a desperate Cubs team today. All season long they have been one of the best in baseball and I just have a hard time seeing them getting swept at home. The Mets are probably making the World Series, but the Cubs are still going to make it hard for them. Cubs -116 is our play today.

NHL Betting Tips:

The Oilers are on a mini-streak right now with 2 straight wins after a 0-4 start. They look to continue their winning ways against the Detroit Red Wings who have lost their last two games. They’ve started to look good as Conor McDavid has starting scoring for them and attempting to live up to the enormous hype that has accompanied him. The Wings are a bit tougher than the Flames though and this could be a tough match-up for the young Oilers. We like over 5 goals here as each team has seen that total in 3 of their past four games. The Oilers tend to give up a lot of goals and need to score to make up for it. Detroit -125 is our play, but we love the over too.
