PDC UK Open 2012 Day Three Evening Session Premium Picks

A great afternoon for the Premium Picks – Wes Newton the highlight of the day, but Michael van Gerwen got us into the black, and the Premium Picks now sit at a profit of +1.44 units.

The PDC bandwagon seems to think that Wes Newton beating Adrian Lewis is some kind of huge shock, but the fact he’s No.5 in the world sums up that he’s no mug, and there should be no shock, considering Newton’s love for this tournament. Colin Osborne almost got whitewashed by Phil Taylor, Denis Ovens staged a great fightback to beat Brendan Dolan, and Joe Cullen beat the slayer of James Wade, Colin Lloyd, in what was a great encounter.

The second session of the day starts in a couple of hours, and I’m confident we’re going to keep the wins flowing and take us into the final day of the UK Open nursing a nice profit.

Dave Chisnall to beat Simon Whitlock: 11/10 @ 888.com.

Recommend: 2 units

Both had impressive wins this afternoon, but I think Chisnall’s form over the past few months on the floor just outshines Whitlock. It’s going to be close, but Chisnall’s last appearance on TV was at the World Championship, where he beat Phil Taylor, so we know the cameras won’t frighten him. I’d have this 5/6 the pair, so Chisnall odds-against looks good to me.

Joe Cullen to beat Jamie Caven: 11/10 @ 888.com.

Recommend: 1 unit.

Another close one to call, but I’ve got to like Cullen here. While Caven has shown a decent bit of form, he’s been totally inconsistent on the big stage, and Cullen just has this vibrancy about his game; he’s solid, he’s on the up-and-up and doesn’t seems cared by the transition to the big time.

Kim Huybrechts to beat Wes Newton: 6/5 @ 888.com.

Recommend: 1 unit.

Normally I’d say Newton looks good here, but he’s come out saying he’s ill, and his win over Adrian Lewis was a bit of a fight against the illness. Huybretcht is gaining in confidence and he’s going to push Newton over this best of 17 format. If he can cling to Newton in the early stages, if fancy him to get the win here, just because Newton’s not 100% and had to fight for his win over the World Champion.

That’s all the Premium Tips for the second session of the third day of the UK Open. I’ll be back with tips for the first session of Sunday’s play at the UK Open. Until then, enjoy the darts and let’s get some winners!
