This week sees a big event in the golf with another Major – the PGA Championship.

One thing that I have to love about this one is we actually have some course form data to go on which always helps.

The location of the 99th PGA Championship is at Quail Hollow. Golf fans will recognize that course as it’s the host for the Wells Fargo Championship. Rory McIlroy has two wins here in the Wells Fargo and is quite rightly the favourite with his return to decent form.

I’m also covering this weeks CFL.

So let’s get to it:

PGA Championship Bets:

I’ve got 4 serious bets and 4 “why not” long shot bets for this one.

First up are the serious bets:

– Matsuyama to win. (1/2)
– Rickie Fowler to win & E/W. (1/2)
– Xander Scauffele to win & E/W. (1/4)
– Phil Mickelson to win & E/W. (1/2)

Numbers in parenthesis is the unit sizing. I’ve also got Fowler for a small bet to be 1st round leader too.

Matsuyama is a guy that needs no explanation – he is in the form of his life right now. When he’s in that form, you bet this dude – simple as that.

Fowler – man, by the numbers he should be up there by the end. He’s had a lot of disappointments though it has to be said lately. I just can’t ignore the data though so I’m grudgingly picking him this week.

Xander has shown he has what it takes in the Majors thus far and I think he might fit in on this course well. I don’t believe he’s played here before. I also love his form at the moment. A real dark horse pick but it honestly wouldn’t surprise me one bit. This guy has a bright future.

Finally Mickelson who always performs well here and of course has the Majors history. Doesn’t tick all the boxes but he’s worth the bet at any rate.

Then my long shot bets. Basically a case of looking at the metrics that may help on this course and picking people I feel work with that.

I’m on Luke List, Tony Finau, Gary Woodland and James Hahn. All to win and E/W for a quarter unit.

CFL Week 8 Bets:

I’m on Eskimos -2. Unbeaten this season, while Ottawa will keep it close I can’t see them keeping it THAT close.

I’m taking Alouettes to win over the Argos. With the bye week gone by I expect them to come otu hungry after that Bombers loss.

I’m also risking it with the Tiger-Cats +2.5 and hoping they get their first W of the season. Surely it’s coming. Winnipeg were lucky last week and I think Hamilton take it this time. Winnipegs luck will run out.

Finally I’m on the Lions to beat the Roughriders.
