This week in the LPGA, it’s the Portland Classic.

It’s a tournament that has had many names over the years and throughout the 2000s was known as the Safeway Classic. It also was sponsored interestingly enough by Pepsi from 2003 through 2008, then Coca Cola from 2009 through 2013.

But to all of us LPGA fans it’s always the Portland Classic.

This event first began in 1972 and has a long history. It’s currently played at Columbia Edgewater Country Club where it has been held at the last 2 years. This is the home of the Portland Classic and it was held here for a whopping 18 years in a row.

Last year was a thriller as it went to a playoff between Austin Ernst and I.K. Kim. Kim had looked like she had it wrapped up before a 74 day on the 3rd round. She then shot -4 on the last round and Ernst got -5 to squeak into a playoff. Momentum was on the side of Ernst and she took it down for a huge win.

This year quite a few notables are missing such as Inbee Park, and Lydia Ko goes into this as the 7/1 favourite. The #2 ranked golfer has been playing solid golf since the PGA Championship although can’t seem to do any better than 3rd. With Inbee Park out, she knows it’s a great chance for her to take it down.

And for PGA fans we uploaded our PGA Championship 2015 Betting Tips earlier.

Portland Classic Betting Tip #1: Lydia Ko

While we’re very concerned about the form of Lydia Ko at the moment – and it’s been forever since she last won a tournament – she’s still arguably the best golfer in the LPGA and has managed to get two 3rd places in her last two tournaments.

She’s playing some very solid golf, looks a lot happier at the moment and no homesickness, and really 7/1 odds is a very fair price.

We’ll go with a unit on Lydia Ko to win. Although you may wish to do half a unit.

Bet: A unit on Ko to win at 7/1 at .

Portland Classic Betting Tip #2: Austin Ernst

Austin Ernst has had a rocky season – but she had a rocky season last year, and still managed to win this tournament. She had a rocky season the year prior, yet at the very same course got a Top 10 finish, and if not for a 75 2nd round would have been amongst the top 5.

Ernst is someone who plays great on this course, and we’re getting a nice 55/1 price on her. We’ll take Ernst with a quarter unit bet in the hope that she can really turn her form around here.

Bet: 55/1 is a solid price for the holder. Bet on her to win and E/W at .

Portland Classic Betting Tip #3: Lizette Salas

Salas has had fine form here before – and she came 3rd in 2013. She showed some exceptional form at the Meijer LPGA Classic where she came tied for 2nd and had 2 64 rounds. If not for a weak -1 day on the last – she had it.

Not sure about her staying power but we’re happy with a quarter unit bet on her.

Bet: Lizette Salas quarter unit bet to win and E/W at .
