The Portugal Masters takes place at the Oceanico Victoria Golf Course, and has been part of the tour sicne 2007.

Last years event wasn’t without controversy – due to horrific weather, the tournament was shortened to just 36 holes. And the weather itself affected the play strongly.

Unfortunately we may be in for more this weekend. Checking the weather forecast it looks like Saturday and Sunday are going to be bad – with a thunderstorm predicted on the Saturday and lots of rain on both days.

Based on that we’re going to be sure to take it cautiously with this weeks betting tips. We’re looking at people who are strong starters, and we’re also going to advise betting no more than half a unit.

2015 Betting Odds:

  1. Bernd Wiesberger: 10/1
  2. Martin Kaymer: 10/1
  3. Soren Kjeldsen: 18/1
  4. Chris Wood: 18/1
  5. Tommy Fleetwood: 20/1
  6. Alexander Levy: 28/1
  7. Thomas Pieters: 30/1
  8. Tyrrell Hatton: 35/1
  9. Eddie Pepperell: 35/1
  10. Ross Fisher: 40/1

Portugal Masters Betting Tip #1: Ross Fisher

We’re going to be taking Ross Fisher to win and to place. Fisher came 2nd here in 2012 – one stroke behind Shane Lowry. He came 38th last year but the weather really changed how everyone performed. While the weather this weekend is a concern – Fishers form here which has 4 top 10 finishes is impressive enough to back.

Ross Fisher is also in solid form. While he struggled at the Masters and the Links, he had an excellent 5th place finish at the European Open. Fisher can start strong too when he wants – as a 67 at the European Masters and the 67-65 at the European Open showed.

Take a half unit and bet it on Fisher to win and E/W.

Bet: You can bet this for 40/1 odds at .

Portugal Masters Betting Tip #2: Thorbjorn Olesen

Danish golfer Thorbjorn Olesen has had an interesting last few tournaments. He was the winner of the Links championship, and 5th place in the Czech Masters. He’s someone who really seems to run both hot and cold – for example his 2nd place at the Mauritius Open back in May.

He’s played here three times. He didn’t make the cut once, he came 16th 3 years ago and last year was 24th.

Thorbjorn Olesen is the type of player who if he is on his game could easily crack the top 5 on a course he is familiar with. We’re going to take a quarter unit bet on Olesen at 45/1 odds to win and E/W.

Bet: 45/1 available at .

Portugal Masters Betting Tip #3: Romain Wattel

We’ll do a quarter unit bet on Romain Wattel.

Course form is solid – 26th and 3rd. The 3rd was last year. He’s been in pretty decent form lately with a 10th place a few weeks ago, and recently 33rd and 22nd in two tough courses. The price is appealing too – Romain Wattel is 45/1 and we’ll go with that.

Bet: Quarter unit on Romain Wattel. 45/1 at .
