This week sees the beginning of the PGA Tour 2015/2016 season – and what a deep field we have for this one.

Our favourite going into this event is Rory McIlroy, who will be playing and hoping to get back on track with a solid win to kickstart his season. Jordan Spieth will not be playing nor will Jason Day – so Rory will be thinking it is his to lose.

In terms of course history we can really only base that on last years as that was the first time it was held at the Silverado Country Club – where it is being held this year as well. It was well recieved last year with golfers praising it for a nice historic feel to it.

Last year saw Bae Sang-moon win it. The South Korean won by 2 strokes over Steven Bowditch but of course the tournament was not as deep as it is this year.

We’re quite excited to see the 2015/2016 season begin and current form plays a big part as most golfers haven’t had a break yet and chance to reset.

We came close here last year with a 28/1 bet on Brooks Koepka for a top 5 finish. He went in looking like he was an easy cash but struggled and missed the top 5 by a stroke.

Let’s see what we can bring out with the Frys.com Open Betting Tips:

Frys.com Open 2015 Betting Odds:

  1. Rory McIlroy: 5/1
  2. Justin Rose: 17/2
  3. Hideki Matsuyama: 16/1
  4. Brooks Koepka: 16/1
  5. Justin Thomas: 35/1
  6. Robet Streb: 35/1
  7. Tony Finau: 40/1
  8. Kevin Na: 40/1
  9. Charl Schwartzel: 45/1
  10. Brandt Snedeker: 45/1

Frys.com Open Betting Tip #1: Rory McIlroy

Rory has been struggling as of late since his injury – but at 5/1 and with Spieth and Day out – we think he is worth a half a unit bet.

This is a tricky course and requires skill – and Rory will be perfect for that. We’re a little bit concerned that Rory is only playing in this due to a deal he made a few years ago – but we’re hoping Rory grasps the opportunity to get things going. Half a unit only though.

Bet: Rory McIlroy at 5/1 to win at .

Frys.com Open Betting Tip #2: Hideki Matsuyama

A 3rd place last year for Matsuama and we like him to be a strong contender this year as well. He’s a high priced 16/1 which is understandable but allows us to bet on him to win and E/W.

He had a tricky 2015 season. He was on form and had 9 top 10s in 25 tournaments – but he couldn’t snag his 2nd win of the PGA. The best he could do was 2nd.

With the top guys out though – this could be a good spot for Matsuyama and we’ll go with a full unit bet on the Japanese golfer hoping he can at least get to the top 5.

Bet: Let’s go with Matsuyama to get that ellusive win or at least come close. Bet him to win and e/w at .

Frys.com Open Betting Tip #3: Steven Bowditch

2nd place last year and a win at the AT&T Byron Nelson. Bowditch is coming into this in some fine form with a 12th place finish at the Tour Championship.

Bowditch is always someone that can surprise us and can perform well on the same courses. We’ll take him for a half unit bet at a whopping 70/1.

Bet: Half unit on Bowditch to recapture his excellent form from last year. 70/1 at .
