Today is finally the day! Our prayers to the gambling gods have been answered and football has finally come back to us! Hallelujah!

We have a full slate of college football games tonight including Jim Harbaugh’s debut as the coach of Michigan. This is a pretty big deal in the sports world right now, but he definitely has his work cut out for him as there was a lot of rebuilding that needed to be done in Michigan before they could compete with Ohio State and Wisconsin in the Big Ten. Still, it will be fun to see what he does and how he handles the adjustment going back to college from the pros.

Another big game tonight is the “battle of Carolina” as North Carolina and South Carolina do battle. These two teams ended up replacing their defensive coordinators last season because their defenses were so bad and because of that this game has one of the highest totals on the board at 63.5 points. If you’re looking for a fun game to watch, this is the one.

Of course we still have plenty of baseball as well, but not as much as you usually find on a Thursday night. It seems the schedule makers were smart enough to realize this was not the day to compete for ratings.

NCAA Football Tips:

All eyes will be on Jim Harbaugh as he leads Michigan against the Utah Utes. These two teams played last season in a game that got personal between the two teams and it was just an ugly game. Utah won 26-10 in that one and we expect the same type of result here tonight. While Harbaugh should do well going forward, he just didn’t do enough to improve this team on the recruiting end to expect a big jump this season. A tough road game against a better team is not the place for him to leave his mark and we fully expect Utah -4.5 to cover.

We’ve could see some serious fireworks in the UNC vs South Carolina game tonight as both defenses struggled last season. 63.5 is a lot of points though so I think we’ll avoid that number. Instead, we’re going to focus on South Carolina -2.5. We’ve already seen this line move from SC -1 to 2.5 and it could go even further. South Carolina is coming off of a major letdown season and we’re expecting a big bounce back from them this season. While they are young, their defense should be improved. Add in the fact that Steve Spurrier has never lost to North Carolina in his career and we’re going with the Gamecocks.

In a match-up of Florida schools we like Central Florida -13. It’s a lot of points to lay, but FIU simply can’t score. Their team total is just 14 points and we’re thinking under. Take UCF who have the better offense and defense in this game.

MLB Betting Tips:

The Giants ranks 8th in all of baseball in wOBA despite playing in the hardest part to hit homeruns out of in all of baseball. What do you think they will do in Coors Field? Giants -135.
