An interesting tie in the knockout stages of the 2018 World Cup is Sweden vs Switzerland. The winner of this clash will face the winner of Colombia vs England.
Sweden won their group and I don’t want to call them a “dark horse” but they are certainly a lot better than they got credit for coming into the World Cup. Even after a tight 1-0 win over South Korea thanks to a penalty – all people could talk about was without Zlatan, they had no chance. Then they lost 2-1 to Germany in a very competitive game they at least deserved a point from. But all people talked about was the Germans last gasp goal. However they looked excellent against a fellow quality team in Mexico, clicking on all cylinders and winning 3-0 to top the group.
Switzerland are one of those teams I have been really high on and I loved the way they went down to Brazil 1-0 and Serbia 1-0 before coming back to draw 1-1 and win 2-1 respectively. I was quite concerned with their performance against Costa Rica though and it will be interesting seeing how they perform going forward.

Sweden Analysis:
Sweden are coming into this one on a high after their big win over Mexico. It was an interesting one as Mexico had most possession and more shots however Sweden were all about quality over quantity.
They also created some great chances against Germany and will be going into this one with a lot of momentum.
Most importantly after that Mexico win it will give their offense confidence. When you look at the raw data from each match they played Sweden played damn good and should not be underestimated.
I must admit I am really looking forward to this one and how they perform. One of the best performing teams of the World Cup so far.
Switzerland Analysis:
Switzerland were a team I really liked going into the World Cup and while I still like them, I am a bit concerned about their performance vs Costa Rica. It was a surprising game that ended up being fun to watch but felt different than the usual Swiss performance.
I am not as gung ho about them as I have been. Also have to admit I am disappointed with the way they had to go a goal down in the first two group games first.
