Earlier we posted our picks for the outright winners of the UK Open.  We will most likely be doing picks each round, and with the first round upon us, here are two free betting picks we think stand a great chance of earning us all a bit of cash.

Mark Jodrill to win @ 8/11 with Hills – Jodrill is nothing special but he usually wins a game or 2 in most floor events and its usually a top 20 player that knocks him out of them. He’s up against Dave Smurthwaite who doesnt play in the PDC. Just think the experience factor might count and I’d have had it a good bit shorter maybe at 4/7.

Michael Barnard to bt Steve Maish @ 6/5 with Blue Square – Barnard again is a PDC journeyman, but the reason I like him here is the negative vibes surrounding Maish. There have been rumours claiming he is close to quitting because of the way he is playing, has been changing his darts trying to find form and is in a really bad way. Additionally Barnard actually beat him 6-3 in a regional qualifier for this tournament, so he will have positive thoughts about the match. I’d make it a pick ‘em match but if Maish goes behind I think he will spit the dummy out.
