The UK Open starts today, June 4 2009, and it’s a great tournament to start with our free darts betting tips.

We will be posting betting picks for each round, however for now here are the outright picks, with some great odds.

Vincent Van Der Voort @ 66/1 Blue Square – Not been in bad form of late on the floor (1 Final, 2SF and 2 QF his sum total), but they have come in the more recent months. Throw in the fact he has gone well here the last 2 years and the short format suiting his streaky play, then 66/1 aint a bad wager.

Wayne Jones @ 100/1 Blue Square – Been one of the more in form players in the whole of 2009. He’s reached 5 QF, 3 SF and 1 final and in the final he had only lost 6-5 to Taylor and missed darts for the win. Has gone well on TV before, too, as he is a former World semi-finalist and on his day is capable of mixing it with the best. Given a favourable draw he really could go well.

Jamie Caven @ 125/1 William Hill. Much like Van Der Voort and Jones, Caven has been another form player for 2009, having won UK Open Welsh Regional floor event, as well as another semi-final appearance and 2 quarter-final appearances. He’s had experience in front of the cameras and if he continues his recent run of form, the 125/1 might look unbelievably generous come the weekend.

Mervyn King at 25/1 Ladbrokes. as I cannot fathom how Anderson can be half his price given that Mervyn doesn’t come in till 2 rounds later and Anderson has to overcome Paul Nicholson in R1. I love Anderson and think he is a great player, but he’ll be bigger for other tournies later in the year, when he will play less games and we will know the draw beforehand, too. King’s had a breakout 12 months and all that experience should hopefully pay off sooner rather than later.

All bets recommended @ .5 of a unit e/w.  Keep up to date with our picks throughout the UK Open 2009 – subscribe to our RSS Feed or Daily Tips Newsletter.
