August 2018 Sportings Events Calendar

August is definitely a transition month on the sports schedule. Many of the sports that carried us through the summer are winding down while the sports that will get us through the winter will start up.

We see the Premier League start in August as well as the NFL preseason beginning. Baseball gets closer to the finish while the final Grand Slam of the tennis season starts in August.

There is also some big golf tournaments on the horizon highlighted by the 2018 PGA Championship. NASCAR racing, UFC events, boxing and the biggest WWE event of the summer, SummerSlam, all take place this month.

The complete calendar of August 2018 is below.

Baseball:

The non-waiver trade deadline passed on July 31st, but over the years we’ve seen many big trades take place in August as well. This is go time for the playoff push so expect lots of action.

The Astros and Mariners, currently battling in the AL West with both in a playoff position at the moment, finish up a series on August 1st.

Basketball:

The NBA doesn’t get going for a couple of months, but their global outreach heads to Africa for the annual NBA Africa Game on August 4th.

Boxing:

August is always a great month for fights and this August is no different.

Cycling:

August 25th – September 16th: La Vuelta a Espana

August 3-5: World Seriess of Darts – Auckland
August 10-12: World series of Darts – Melbourne

Football:

Here comes football!

The NFL preseason kicks off August 9th which leads up to the first game of the regular season in early September.

Tennis:

The final of Grand Slam event of the year kicks off this month with the US Open starting August 27th in New York. The event will run until September 9th.

Wrestling:

One of WWE’s biggest events of the year takes place this month as WWE SummerSlam comes to us from Brooklyn on August 19th.
