A 2-1 day last night.

The Brewers gave us a couple of scares in their game against the Marlins, but they continued to beat up on that Marlins bullpen and were able to grab the 4-2 win to complete the sweep.

Manny Machado had quite a day against Corey Kluber, hitting two homeruns off the Cy Young award winner. That made this one much closer than I’d like when laying the runs. It was 4-3 heading into the ninth, but thankfully Jose Ramirez bailed us out with a homerun. Great win here.

Our loss on the night was the Mariners over the Rangers. A few things go differently and I think this is a win. The Mariners left a whopping 12 men on base in this one, including leaving the bases loaded twice. They outhit the Rangers in this one and just weren’t able to convert. The score was 4-5 heading into the bottom of the 8th, but unfortunately the bullpen allowed an additional two runs. The worst part may have been the runners on second and third with nobody out in the ninth. If the score is 4-5 still, I think the Mariners win that game. At 4-7, they have to swing away and the bats behind Nelson Cruz and Robinson Cano couldn’t get it done. Now, that’s baseball for you.

Cleveland Indians vs. Baltimore Orioles Betting Tips:

Carlos Carrasco is on the mound for the Indians and that has meant good things for them this season. He’s 3-0 in four starts this year with the only no decision being seven innings of shutout ball against the Twins. He faces a good Orioles offense today, but I like him to perform well in this one. He’s really on fire right now and the Indians offense should pick him up.

Kevin Gausman is extremely hittable. He’s allowed six homeruns in four starts this season and is carrying a 5.57 ERA/6.06 FIP. He’s probably not this bad, but I don’t expect his positive results to come from this start. The Indians are dangerous and I feel great laying the runs here.

Minnesota Twins vs. New York Yankees Betting Tips:

Masahiro Tanaka got us in his last start out, but I’m not afraid to go back to the well here. He’s a great pitcher in a great spot to grab a win here thanks to his offense.

We all know what the Yankees offense is capable of. Jake Odorizzi is a flyball pitcher playing in a park with short porches in both corners. This could turn out bad for him. I like the Yankees a lot here. Lay the runs.

Seattle Mariners vs. Chicago White Sox Betting Tips:

Speaking of laying the runs, you have to love the Mariners tonight. Mike Leake is their most reliable starter. He’s not great, but he is the ultimate 4.00 ERA pitcher. He’ll go around six innings and gave up about three runs. With this Seattle offense, that’s about all he’ll need tonight.

The reason? Miguel Gonzalez. This guy has been giving up runs like crazy in his first few starts of the season and faces a loaded Seattle offense today. Gonzalez has a 12.41 ERA/8.02 FIP with a 2.432 WHIP in three starts this season. Those are almost comically bad and you have to love Seattle here. Lay the runs.

Miami Marlins vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Betting Tips:

This one is a bit of a risk, but I love it. Walker Buehler is a big time prospect making his first major league start today. These can go either way, but I think this match-up combined with his stuff could make for a big win today. He definitely has the fastball to strike guys out and the Marlins offense isn’t exactly intimidating. Buehler had three starts at Triple-A this season with a 2.03 ERA and 11 K/9. I’d say he’s ready.

Jarlin Garcia goes for the Marlins and while his ERA is quite impressive (0.86), his underlying stats tell a different story with a 4.11 FIP. He’s walking almost five runners per game and has a left on base percentage of 96%. Yeah, that’s not going to last. The Dodgers should be able to help make his ERA match his FIP tonight.
