A 1-1 record last night.

The over on the Padres and Diamondbacks turned out to be a piece of cake. This total was just at just seven runs, but ended up closing around 7.5. Didn’t matter as the Diamondbacks beat that number by themselves. Zack Greinke looked better here as he struck out ten and even homered twice. He did allow three runs though and that’s all I was really looking for from him.

Our other tip was the Yankees over the Tigers and that one did not go through. Jordan Zimmerman defied the odds and put up another awesome start. The Yanks offense just didn’t have it in this one. All of the injuries haven’t helped, but this is still a strong team and I expect them to bounce back.

I am still adjusting the MLB schedule and it totally slipped my mind that today is a travel day meaning lots of early games. I’ve been burning the candle from both ends from work lately so I didn’t get these done in time for those early ones. The good news is that there are still a couple of games tonight that the Bet MLB Sytem really likes. Let’s get into it.

Boston Red Sox vs. Oakland Athletics Betting Tips:

At one point does a team say enough is enough? For the World Champion Boston Red Sox, I think that point is 1-5.

A big help to that should be Marco Estrada who heads to the mound for the Athletics. This is a pitcher that I just don’t trust against a good offense. Last season, he posted a 5.64 ERA/5.44 FIP with high walks, high homerun rate and low strikeouts. That is the triple crown of a bad pitcher and one that the Red Sox should very much exploit here.

Nathan Eovaldi goes here for the Red Sox and he should benefit from not going against the red hot buzzsaw that is the Seattle Mariners. He has a nice pitch mix and his 3.81 ERA/3.60 FIP line from last year is a lot closer to who he is than what we saw against the Mariners.

This line is lower than I think it should be based on the Red Sox rough start. That won’t last and I think they get back on track here.

Bet Red Sox -134

Houston Astros vs. Texas Rangers Betting Tips:

I am not a believer in Mike Minor. He posted a 4.18 ERA/4.43 FIP last season and he’s an extreme fly-ball pitcher in a homer friendly park. This lineup is especially rough to do that against as the Astros led all of baseball in OPS against lefties last season. This is just the perfect storm for Houston’s offense.

The Astros will send Gerrit Cole to the mound and he’s really good. The former number one overall pick looked great in his first start after posting a 2.88 ERA/2.70 FIP last season. He’s very good and this Rangers offense has some big bats, but doesn’t scare me overall. I think he rolls here.

Let’s lay the runs.

Bet Astros -1.5 (-135)
