Group D in the World Cup features Argentina, Iceland, Croatia and Nigeria. All 4 teams will play their opening games on Saturday, June 16th.

The first game taking place that day in the group will be Argentina vs Iceland with Croatia vs Nigeria taking place as the last game of the day.

The CONMEBOL was tough and Argentina weren’t really dominant. In 18 games they won 7, drew 7 and lost 4. in that time they barely averaged over a goal a game with 19 goals in 18 games. Sampaoli really hasn’t got this team playing cohesive and that’s a concern giving the talent they obviously have.

Iceland had an excellent qualification to the 2018 World Cup as they won 7 of their 10 games to top Group I in the UEFA Qualification phase. They struggled on the road with a draw against Ukraine and defeats against Croatia and Finland.

Argentina vs Iceland Betting Odds:

Argentina To Win: 1.28
Iceland To Win: 13.00
Draw: 4.75

My bet for this one is going to be 5 units on Iceland or draw. The price on this one is 3.75 and you can read the analysis below or back it at https://www.Bovada.lv.

Argentina Analysis:

Argentina are one of those teams where due to both their historical records and quality as well as players like Messi, you tend to assume they’re better than they are.

However when you look at things – there’s a lot of concerns. Their struggles to qualify for example. No experience in the goalkeepers. A defense of Fazio and Otamendi isn’t exactly something to inspire confidence here.

I must admit the more I look into Argentina, the more concerned I am. I mean when you look at the 2014 World Cup even – yeah they made it to the finals but at practically no point during that tournament would you call them dominant. In many of those games they could have easily lost.

I really think they are overvalued.

Iceland Analysis:

And I also find Iceland are undervalued. Yeah they don’t have Lagerback but Hallgrimsson has did a solid job at keeping the status quo. Yet they’re the least favourites to qualify in their group.

We saw what they were capable of in Euro 2016 and that was without the experience of the grand stage. This is them with the experience and it feels like the bookies are asleep.

From everything I’ve read Gylfi Sigurdsson should be healthy enough and so that’s good to hear. But while he is their star player they play damn good as a unit.

Their counter attacks especially against a poor Argentinian defense could be something and Argentina could easily underrestimate them.

Argentina vs Iceland Betting Tips:

Now I could be completely wrong on this one. My read of both teams could be way off and it could play out as the bookies except – with a thumping from Argentina.

However everything I look at just suggests Argentina are incredibly overvalued while Iceland are incredibly undervalued.

I think I’ve got to take a chance and hope the bookies have it wrong. I’m on Iceland or Draw for 5 units. Based on the stats, 3.75 is a ridiculously good price for that and you can back it at https://www.Bovada.lv.
