In a weird bit of scheduling, there is actually a Super Bowl rematch in tonight’s preseason game of the week. For a preseason game this should be a ratings bonanza. Oh wait, the Jets and Redskins are on ESPN and this game will be only shown locally. That makes a ton of sense.

Just like the Super Bowl, we won’t be seeing any Carson Wentz. Nick Foles will get the start for the Eagles and Tom Brady for the Patriots, but that’s where the similarities will end. This is, after all, preseason football and the meaning of this game is exactly zero.

Still, it should be fun and I do have a tip on it. Both of these teams looked poised for another postseason run and a rematch in the Super Bowl is not out of the question.

MLB Betting Tips:

The Yankees have had their share of struggles since losing both Aaron Judge and Gary Sanchez, but even without them they have one of the best offenses in this league. Giancarlo Stanton, Miguel Andujar, Didi Gregorious and Gleyber Torres would make up a killer nucleus on most teams, but on the Yankees they are supporting players. Crazy.

They face off against the Rays this afternoon in what I expect to be a high scoring game. Blake Snell is having a great season, but he’s started in Yankee Stadium twice this season and allowed four runs in one and five runs in the other. Those are two of his worst starts of the year as he’s been lights out everywhere else. He faces off against Masahiro Tanaka who is coming off a six-run start. This just feels like a great place for an over.

Another game I am looking at is the Blue Jays over the Royals. Kansas City has been one of the worst teams in the league this year and they send Glenn Sparkman to the mound who has not been good in Triple-A or the majors this year. I think the Jays hit him and hit him hard. Sam Gaviglio has been a bright spot in the rotation and I think he’ll handle this weak Royals offense well.

NFL Preseason Betting Tips:

We’ve done well betting preseason thus far because we studied the depth chart. Backup QBs are important in these games and if Carson Wentz were healthy, I’d be all over the Eagles. With him out? Not so much. Christian Hackenberg had a pretty disastrous run with the Jets. Nate Sudfeld? No. Joe Callahan? No. There is so little NFL experience there and the Patriots are nothing if not well coached on defense.

The Patriots on the other hand have Brian Hoyer as a back-up. He’s not only started in this league, but had a lot of success. I also don’t mind the rookie Danny Etling, although I doubt he gets much run here. I don’t think the Patriots care about this game as some sort of revenge play, but I do think they’ll do well in front of their home crowd. The Pats feel like an easy pick here.
