Big weekend coming up for soccer fans with the English Championship in action and all the leagues in Scotland.

Can’t wait for the season to kick off. Of course the English Premier League isn’t till next week but that’s okay – the Championship is one of those leagues that I’ve really taken to over the past few years.

There is just so much more quality down there than previous years and also a lot of good tactics so it’s fun to watch.

Of course the opening games can be tricky so don’t go into this expecting easy wins or anythign. Just a few thoughts as I’m excited for opening weekend:

English Championship Betting Tips:

Birmingham vs Norwich Betting Tips: Birningham are still under the transfer embargo and are also missing Isaac Vassel of course. Birmingham barely escaped relegation last season while Norwich were a typical mid table team.

Birmingham have their issues as do Norwich. Norwich added to the side with some good signings like Jordan Rhodes but losing James Maddison is a big loss for them and I think it’s going to hurt.

After the bad season last year, Birmingham will be happy with a draw. Norwich will also be happy to open the season away with a point.

I’m going with Draw in this one.

Bristol City vs Notts Forest Betting Tips: It feels like years ago but last season Bristol City got off to an excellent start and were competing at the top of the Championship. It all went to tatters in the last half of the season.

Bristol City will be missing Diedhiou which hurts while FOrest will be debuting Joao Carvalho. What a signing he was. He should have a big future I think.

There’s been a lot of changes to both teams and I think this one will be a high scoring game as neither team will be technically smooth or have that cohesiveness going yet. Could be sloppy in parts. Forst will be going for the win to start their season off with a bang.

I’m taking Over 2.5 Goals.

Ipswich vs Blackburn Betting Tips: I think Blackburn are overvalued in this one having just come up. They looked a mess during the pre-season with some real weird and inconsistent results. It could be a case of motivation – like that Everton win – and so who knows maybe they come out here crazily motivated and get a dominating win.

However they’re missing Gladwin and Davenport and that hurts.

I just think the sportsbooks are giving Blackburn too much value. I’m tempted by Ipswich or draw but I think they’re the better team and should squeak a victory out of this one.

For my third and final Championship tip of the day, I ‘m going to take the boys from Ipswich to get a win at 2.75 odds. Nice price that.
