Alrighty so after the disaster in tipping Champions League qualification, I fared a bit better last week by going 2-2 with the picks.
Went 0-2 on the Tuesday but bounced back with a 2-0 on the Wednesday.
So I figure I’ll stick with it. I’ll still stay away from the Europa League this week most likely (although Braga at 1.90 is hella tempting), but I’ll cover the UEFA Champions League action on both Tuesday and Wednesday.
It’s all first leg action of course.
Let’s get to it:
Chelsea vs Bayern Munich Betting Tips:
Chelsea came joint 1st in Group H with Valencia however 2nd overall due to UEFA rules. They had an excellent campaign with only the one loss at homt to Valencia. They performed very well both home and away including a 2-2 draw at Valencia. They were able to hold teams to 1 goal or less and when they weren’t, they matched them for goals such as that 4-4 Ajax game.
Chelsea currently find themselves in 4th place in the EPL. It’s ben a mixed season for Frank Lampards men and they came back from the winter break to lose to Man Utd, but got a key 2-1 win over Spurs on the weekend.
Bayern Munich won their group with ease. Home or away, they demolished everyone in their way. Including a 7-2 win in England when they played Spurs. In the Bundesliga, Munich come in top of it having not lost since December 7th.
Munich are 1.83 favourites, while Chelsea and the draw are both 4.00 odds.
This is going to be an interesting one. Munich play high at the back. So it will be interesting seeing whether Chelsea rely on the counter, or if they try and control the game. Of course they have a lot to worry about as Munich are a very tough team.
Bayern also have a bit of a better schedule domstically.
Honestly to me it’s just a case of Bayern are better both player wise and tactic wise. They’re a beast, and I feel Lampard might be a bit out of his depth here. I’m quite happy to bet the better team even if it’s away. This might feel similar for Munich as their first leg was played in England against Liverpool last year at this stage. They drew 0-0 before getting thumped 3-1.
I feel there is solid enough value on a bet of Chelsea or the Draw, but Munich are a top quality team and I just think they will be too good for Chelsea here. Big props to Lampards men if they can get something from this contest but I can’t see them holding off the Munich offense.

Napoli vs Barcelona Betting Tips:
Napoli were unbeaten in the group stages. Most importantly they beat Liverpool and also drew with them at Anfield. They ultimately finished 2nd due to draws with Geng and Salzburg. They are performing well in Serie A and just picked up a win over Juventus. They’ve had some rough patches though.
Barcelona also went unbeaten in the group stages and won their group with a 4-2-0 record. They drew 0-0 away to Dortmund but on the road beat Slavia Prague and Inter Milan 2-1. Domestically, they are currently top of La Liga however rocky road form with a 5-3-4 record. They come into this one on the back of 4 straight wins although only 1 away win in their last 4.
Barcelona are favourites at 2.15 odds with the draw at 3.60 and Napoli at 3.25.
This should be a competitive game. Barcelona will be happy with a draw here I expect with their current form away. Napoli may be missing Llorente although will have Milik back. Barcelona will be missing Suarez and Dembele and probably Alba.
I think this is one where Barcelona will be happy with the draw. However Napoli will not be – they want to take a win to the Nou camp so I am going to go for that instead.
