Four NBA tips for December 23rd, 2021.

New Orleans Pelicans at Orlando Magic Betting Tips:

The Magic are on a back-to-back here, coming off a win against a depleted Hawks team. Orlando will still be pretty decimated here as they are likely to be without Wendell Carter Jr., Cole Anthony, Jalen Suggs, Mo Bamaba, and much more. They are starting someone named Hassani Gravett at point guard who I had never heard of until earlier this week.

The Pelicans are playing well of late, having won three of their past four games. It’s been a favorable schedule, but it’s also just been having Brandon Ingram, Devonte Graham, and Josh Hart all healthy and on the court. They will have those three tonight and I think that will once again be enough. Those three will be, at worst, three of the best four players in this game.

Milwaukee Bucks at Dallas Mavericks Betting Tips:

I undersold the Bucks last night as they absolutely dominated the Rockets. A big part of that was DeMarcus Cousins going into the wayback machine and delivering a vintage performance as well as Holiday and Middleton being their usual selves. It’s a back-to-back here, but it’s hard to see them not repeating that against this depleted Mavericks team.

No Luka Doncic, no Porzingis, no Hardaway Jr., no Willie Caulie-Stein, no TREY BURKE. This team is hurting. They aren’t going to win this game.

Charlotte Hornets at Denver Nuggets Betting Tips:

This will be the end of a brutal six game west coast road trip for the Hornets. They are 1-4 on the road trip this far and I don’t see it getting much better here tonight. Denver is always a tough place to play on the road and it should continue to be.

The thing that has me sold on the Nuggets here is the recent usage of Nikola Jokic. This guy has been putting up MVP numbers all season, but over the last two games he has not been needed and played under 30 minutes in each of them. With the Christmas break coming up, he can go extra and go hard if he needs to. There is no one on Charlotte who can compete with him when he’s on.

Memphis Grizzlies at Golden State Warriors Betting Tips:

The Grizzlies have had a nice season and are just getting Ja Morant back, but I don’t like their chances right now. They’ve definitely gotten used to playing one way without Morant and then he returned to his own fans getting rude with him. I love this guy and think he’ll get back to where he was and lead this team to some great stuff, but he’s not quite there yet.

The Warriors are always there. Even without Jordan Poole, Andre Iguodala, and Andrew Wiggins this team still has more than enough to win this one. A young team like this is one where all of Draymond Green’s tricks really work and Steph should be motivated by the match-up against a young point guard.

To put it another way, the Warriors are 15-2 at home this season and the Grizz are 8-5 on the road.
