We are getting very near to college football bowl season which means that football games are slowly getting to be few and far between. The NFL only has four weeks left to go until the playoffs start. There is snow on the ground in many places, Christmas is growing closer and we are in the midst of NBA and NHL season. Hallelujah.

In the NBA tonight we have a solid match-up of potential Eastern Conference playoffs teams as the Pistons take on the Bulls. Detroit just got starting point guard back from injury and they should start to look more like the dangerous squad that everyone had them predicted to be in the preseason. This could be a Detroit showcase as there is a scheduling issue that could slow the Bulls.

The NHL offers us a rivalry game between the first and last place teams in the Metropolitan division as the Rangers take on the Islanders. Despite the disparate places in the pecking order, this could be a good game with plenty of goals scored.

Let’s take a look at the action.

NBA Betting Tips:

Tonight is what they call a “scheduled loss” for the Chicago Bulls. It is their fourth game in five nights with two road games sprinkled in. This is the hardest stretch for any team during the regular season and an even harder one for a team with as many veterans as the Chicago Bulls have. The Detroit Pistons just got Reggie Jackson back and their offense looks a lot better since then. This is a team to watch going forward, but tonight should be a cake walk for them. Pistons -6 thanks to the schedule makers.

The Utah Jazz are a team that we expect big things from this year and they could end up as a top four seed in the Western Conference. They do that by having a great defense and solid offense, but they also do that by beating up on teams like the Phoenix Suns. They’ll host them at home tonight and while the line is high, it should probably be higher and the Jazz -7 should easily cover tonight.

NHL Betting Tips:

The New York Rangers and New York Islanders continue their rivalry tonight and with all big rivalry games, we have to go with the over. The way the Islanders offense has been rolling lately they should absolutely be able to score on this Rangers defense that has been shaky of late. The Rangers can put up goals as well and, despite the two solid goalies for each team, we have to like the over 5.5 goals

The Oilers are a road favorite tonight against Buffalo, but that just doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. The Oilers haven’t looked that great of late and tonight is their third game in four nights. The Sabres beat them badly earlier this season, 6-2, and they can be frisky at home. We’re taking the home underdog here, Sabres +133
