Welcome to the tips for Wednesday, March 20th.

I’ll be covering the golf as is per usual on Wednesdays.

First my apologies for them being late today. Just had a hell of a last couple of days and today was a mess. Took me awhile to find the time to be able to do this ha.

What a tournament The Players Championship was last week.

I said last week that it was a more relaxed week for me as I couldn’t really get in the zone when it came to the analysis. Despite that, we almost pulled off a big win with Hideki Matsuyama.

After doing almost nothing the first two days except existing, he came out with a storm in the final two rounds and almost got us that top 5 place.

Brutal that he just wasn’t able to do it.

It was an interesting tournament and good to see Rory win. It’s a pity his putting is what it is because honestly if he could putt, we’d have another Tiger Woods situation going on as his abilities are unreal.

This week I’m covering the Valspar Championship and have a couple of LPGA Tips as well.

My only real bet is on Webb Simpson to win and Top 5. Honestly it’s not even my favourite bet or anything. He stands out in all the metrics I run for this and his form is decent enough. The price isn’t anything solid. I don’t love it but it’s one where I’d regret not making it I think.

I’m on the 90/1 Michael Thompson. Whatever metrics you factor in for this course, he’s going to be amongst the top 10 or 20. So it just makes mathematical sense to bet him here. One thing I’ll be curious about is his final position and based on the metrics, if it would have been worth betting him top 10 instead of to win and top 5. For the record he is 9/1 to finish top 10, 7/2 to finish top 20.

I feel like a broken record but for the third or fourth straight week I’m on Lucas Glover to win and Top 5. He’s starting to push his luck with me though I’ve got to say ha. He missed the cut last week and I almost hope he does the same this week so I can rule him out of contention. As it is he stands up well and the odds are good.

Finally I’m on Jim Furyk to win and Top 5 at 33/1 odds to win. How can I not? I know why he is fairly low priced – the bookies don’t think he has what it takes to go four full rounds. So I’m also backing him at First Round Leader To Win & Top 5 as well. I don’t know if he has what it takes but I’m fine backing him.

In the LPGA I have two small bets to win and Top 5 on In Gee chun and Stacy Lewis. Could be a situation where they both don’t make the cut or they could both contend. Just never know but the math makes it worth a bet.
