July 21st, 2019 MLS Betting Tips

Well I’ve been covering MLS the last couple of days so I may as well keep it up for Sunday, July 21st while I’m in the mood.

On July 18th it was a perfect 2-0 day with two nice plays.

I took DC United to get the win over FC Cincinnati. I was a bit concerned about that one as Cincinnati were the favourites there but I felt even without Luciano Acosta, DC United would be able to get the win and get the goals over the Cincinnati defense.

They were able to do that with ease with a 4-1 victory. Lucas Rodriguez scored two and Wayne Rooney got on the scorecard in a nice victory.

I hate backing draws but I saw value in the Portland vs Orlando game being a draw. Honestly I got rather lucky here. Portland were all over Orlando and had 26 shots against just two. Despite that Orlando City scored before half time thanks to Santiago Patino, and it actually took till the 82nd minute for Portland to score despite their dominance, with a goal from Jeremy Ebobisse.

I’ll take it though.

Atlanta United vs DC United Betting Tips:

Atlanta lost to Seattle away 2-1 but ended their 3 game run without winning with a 5-0 victory over Houston.

DC United come into this one fresh off that solid 4-1 victory over Cincinnati.

Atlanta are an interesting team. They’re currently third in the East and that’s mostly off some excellent home performances. They’ve really struggled away.

I watched that Seattle game and was really impressed with what I saw from Seattle. They basically knew how to expose Atlanta and did a great job at it. Seattle pressed strong and then would get the ball up front in the direct style. Atlanta couldn’t handle that and it was funny seeing them switching to long balls of their own – but without the tactical thinking that Seattle used to make the chances worth it.

DC United are pretty heavy underdogs in this one despite being 2nd in the East. A lot of that is based on Atlanta and their home performances really where they really do excel here.

I think DC United are a match for them however and the blueprint to cause Atlanta problems is there. I think they have a good chance of coming away from this game with something and the value is there.

Cincinnati vs New England Betting Tips:

I hate going back to betting against Cincinnati to lose at home again, but new England are on an excellent run at the moment.

I’m not fully confident in them – their away form has been dismal lately – but they haven’t lost away in their last 4 and have a nice run going of 9 games in a row without losing.

Gotta back a hot team against a team who must be a bit cold having lost after getting 2 wins in a row and in that type of fashion.
