Today we weill head to France to look in at the games taking place on Saturday, February 8th.
Quite a few games with close odds which I always like to see. Makes it more fun when tipping. I also have a lot of advanced metrics for Ligue 1 that helps too.
Of course Ligue 1 is generally all about the race for third place. PSG are just too good and Marseille are also too good (but not good enough for PSG).
Let’s get right in:
Marseille vs Toulouse Betting Tips:
I was tempted by Marseille to win to nil. But that’s only 2.05 odds and with their offense deserting them in quite a few games lately, I figure the safer play is to back one team not to score.
To their credit, while Toulouse have struggled to score lately with no goals in their last 3 games, they do have a decent xG around average for Ligue 1. So can’t count them out.
However Marseille have an absolutely stellar defense at home.
These two teams played back in November and Marseille marched out 2-0 winners there.
Toulouse have been able to score in half their away games. While Marseille actually have a low clean sheet ratio here I just think the Toulouse offense is too ineffectual to get anything going.
They’ll probably come here and try and play tight defensively. With the Marseille offense struggling a bit lately (their xG the last couple of games is woeful) I am not sure they can cover the handicap. There’s even a slight possibility they don’t score.

Nice vs Nimes Betting Tips:
To me this is one of those games that boils down to home performances versus away performances.
Nice are currently 8th in the Ligue 1. However they aren’t too far out of a European spot and come into this one rocking a 7 game unbeaten streak. Only 3 wins in that but still.
Nimes come in feeling confident after two wins on the trot as they beat Dijon and Monaco. They’re still in the relegation zone but are hoping to keep that run going as they take on Nice.
I can’t see it.
Nice are just an excellent home team. They have a 7-3-2 record here and fully deserve it. Interestingly they have the 2nd highest xGA at home which gives an idea of how much looser they play here. However it seems to work for them. They have a 100% scoring rate at home and I see that continuing here.
I see Nice continuing to kill it here. Can’t see any other result and it’d be a big surprise if there was. Nice generally don’t underestimate teams.
