The NBA Playoffs are finally here and we’re kicking it off with four games today.
This year’s first round features some solid match-ups, especially in the Western Conference. There are also some series that should be surefire sweeps due to a variety of reasons. The next few weeks are going to be great though with games on all the time and a ton of good basketball being played. The Playoffs are always a good time and this year should be no different. Well, a little different, but you know what I mean.
The Jazz and Nuggets kick things off early. That’s a weird series to be sure, but I think the Nuggets are going to take it. They are getting back to full strength at just the right time. Today also sees the Nets take on the Raptors and the Mavericks take on the Clippers. Those are two of the series that I can see ending in a sweep. While the 76ers-Celtics series on paper looks like one of the first round’s most competitive.

Brooklyn Nets vs. Toronto Raptors Betting Tips:
This is a series that I have locked in as a sweep. The Nets were one of the teams hit hardest by the shutdown and they are basically Caris LeVert and not much else. That kind of thing worked when they were playing bubble games and teams weren’t as locked in on defense, this is a completely different story. The Raptors are a very tough team to play and they are really trying to defend their championship. I have them going deep into the playoffs this year and it all starts with a big win here.
Boston Celtics vs. Philadelphia 76ers Betting Tips:
On paper this looks like a close series, but I really don’t see it playing out that way. The loss of Ben Simmons is really going to hurt the Sixers and the Celtics will be able to play the perimeter game much better without him around. The Sixers will try to make this thing physical as they still have the size advantage, but Jayson Tatum is really growing into a superstar player and I think he continues that trend here. Kemba Walker, Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Gordon Hayward are all guys that can drive the basket and nail the three, and the Sixers just don’t have a good match-up for that.
This feels like one that is close through three quarters, but the Sixers fade and the Celtics take game one.
Dallas Mavericks at Los Angeles Clippers Betting Tips:
They say that the playoffs is when defense really comes into play, but there are always some exceptions to that rule. The Mavericks are basically that and I am not expecting them to play some new revolutionary form of defense here. The Mavericks only real chance is to play a high scoring game and I think they’ll try to do that here. These two teams met in the bubble and the Clips won 126-111. That’s the kind of score we’re looking for here.
This game has the highest total of the day, but it’s also the one I feel most comfortable going over on.
