Premier League Darts 2013 Night Ten (Sheffield) Premium Picks.

Well, we’ve lost Wes Newton and Gary Anderson from the Premier League mix. While it wasn’t the night of drama Sky Sports had hoped, Judgement Night in Bright last week was still one of the most entertaining nights of Premier League Darts this season. And now we get the pleasure of watching James Wade and Michael van Gerwen play twice instead of watching Gary Anderson struggle to hit doubles, and Wes Newton throwing some erratic darts. We’re heading for Sheffield this week, so from one end of England to the other. We start with Scotland vs Australia, Robert Thornton against Simon Whitlock. Then it’s the Battle of the Bulge (or bellies, whatever) with James Wade taking on Adrian Lewis. World No.1 taking on World No.2 when Phil Taylor faces Michael van Gerwen. Then it’s Andy Hamilton against Raymond van Barneveld, before James Wade and Michael van Gerwen return for a second match.

Robert Thornton Vs Simon Whitlock

Robert Thornton is really enjoying his darts at the moment, and he got comfortably through to the second stage of the Premier League. Simon Whitlock unexpectedly blew hot and cold in the first 9 weeks, leaving him in danger of relegation. There’s no denying Whitlock is a heavy scorer when he wants to be, and he pushed Michael van Gerwen to a draw on the 180 count last week. He’ll need to repeat the scoring against Thornton if he’s to stand a chance.

Robert Thornton to beat Simon Whitlock: 11/10 @ 888sport.

James Wade vs Adrian Lewis.

Two men who were off the boil at the start of the Premier League Darts season, and how the fortunes of one man have changed. James Wade is playing confident darts, and he just needs to find the treble a bit more to match his finishing. Adrian Lewis, he’ll be glad just to avoid relegation and he can start afresh in the Premier League and try and get some valuable wins under his belt.

James Wade to beat Adrian Lewis 11/10 @ 888sport.

Phil Taylor Vs Michael van Gerwen:

It’s been a return to form for Phil Taylor and it’s all down to changing back to his old darts. Michael van Gerwen, well, he’s done what’s been expected of him in his debut Premier League Darts season, and now he’ll want to get a big win over Phil Taylor. How often is Taylor odds-against in the Premier League? With his old darts back in his hands, that might prove costly for the bookies, as MVG has been good, but he’s not been great.

Phil Taylor to beat Michael van Gerwen: 5/4 @ 888sport.

Andy Hamilton Vs Raymond van Barneveld.

In my opinion, this is the sleeper match of the night. Both men are playing some great darts – Barney playing with flair, while Hamilton is grinding out impressive wins. It’s going to be a bit of a slugfest, it could go all the way, and I expect some heavy scoring over quite a few legs.

Over 6.5 180s in Hamilton Vs Van Barneveld match: 5/4 @ <888sport.

James Wade Vs Michael van Gerwen:

And this is the main event, deservedly so. It’s the new PDC grudge, and it’s one that could be exciting over the next few years if both men can keep their heads in the game. This is going to come down to who can cope with the two matches in one night. As we’ve seen before in the Premier League, it’s been a bit of a curse for one player to play twice. However, both men have that problem, so it’s down to who can handle it better. Wade is a big price for someone who has the Premier League experience behind him. Plus, he DOES have that win over MVG in the Premier League.

James Wade to beat Michael van Gerwen: 21/10 @ 888sport.
